Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??
Just wanted to address the negatives that have been posted here about Sans Souci . . .My cocktail hour (which was standard) had plenty of food. There were 10 passed and 2 stations. It wasn't a crazy huge cocktail hour but I didn't think it was too little either.
As for the chair covers, I didn't notice one stain, burn, etc on them. Maybe they hadn't yet removed and cleaned them from the last event.
The bridal suite upstairs didn't seem bad too me but, then again, I only spent about 15min up there right before the reception started.
As for the powerlines, they are not in any of my photos. A skilled photographer will probably be able to find a way to take pictures around them.
The only complaint that I do agree with is the dance floor being separate from the tables. Yes it was difficult for guests who stayed in their seats to see the floor but most of our guests gathered around the dancefloor for the major events (parent dances, cake-cutting, etc.) . The positive aspect to this is that there are no tables sitting right next to a DJ or band's speakers (which I, personally, can't stand).

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??
Thank you Meg.I am glad you posted this. I could not speak of Sans Souci myself having never attended an affair there, but I did not want Josie having a skewed view of this place, because of one persons insensitive comments.
Good luck Josie!!!

We looked at San Souci and although it was nice, we didnt think it was convenient for our guests. That road is soooooooooooo long. But you do what makes you comfortable.

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??
Hi! I just have to chime in b/c I'm getting married at Sans Souci in August. I agree w/ everything Meg said. Everytime I have been there the food has been great, the room has looked great and the staff has been fantastic. As far as the power lines go, I didn't notice them at all. Probably b/c the trees were full of leaves when I was there. As for the barges, those must move in and out b/c I haven't seen them when I have been there.I think it is a personal decision. You will know that right place when you see it. As soon as we saw Sans Souci we knew it was right for us. We had heard great things about the food and it really mattered to us to have the whole place to ourselves and be the only party there on our wedding night. Good luck!

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??
I do not feel my comments were insensitive, I readily admit I am picky. A bride on this board was asking for feedback and that is what I gave. I hardly find it helpful to always just say everything is great, I believe when you are looking for feedback you are looking for honest opinions from all sides. If you are confident with your choices then nothing I or anyone else says should matter. Torn lamp shades and stained linens (by the way, they were set up for a party happening later that same day) are signs of neglect. Obviously these are only my opinions, everyone must decide for themselves.Judge for yourself if my opinions are too harsh or too critical. I would appreciate all honest opinions when I ask for feedback, I'll decide what matters to me and what doesn't.
Happy planning to all.

Lets just all keep in mind to exercise some tact and diplomacy when expressing our' honest' opinions.

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??
I thought I was being tactful. I acknowledged I am very particular and these were the observations of a very picky person. Is there another way to say stained linens? I am not going to play word games.I don't intend to argue this. It is not my intention to upset anyone, however, I believe honest opinions should always be spoken WHEN one asks for feedback. Feedback means both positive and negative, yes?
If anyone's feelings were hurt, I truly am sorry, that is not my intention.

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??
I can say I am very picky. When I went to the Coral House I looked at everything from the walls, to the linens, to the rugs. I had NO problem, and my family, FH & I thought the food was great!Your honest opinions are fine, and I AM confident with my choice!
edited to say, I wouldn't book a place that had that, LMAO!

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??
I totally agree Wacky -My wedding was the most amazing day of my life. Everything was perfect from the location to the music to the flowers.
I always felt 100% confident in my decision and I was proven correct. I preferred a place on the water, not on a main road, and with character but at an affordable price. That is what I got at Sans Souci. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but, as an adult, I am not going to bicker back and forth about it.

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??
Ooooh, I must have missed this post yesterday....I was a Sans Souci bride - May 11th of this year. Everything was absolutely perfect!! We had a Saturday afternoon reception with an outdoor cocktail hour. It was a beautiful sunny 72 degree day. We were the only party there.
We picked this place because we were planning a small affair (we had 115 adults and 7 children final count);
We had been to an affair there before when my uncle got married and the food was excellent. We got tons of compliments the day of our wedding on the food. I actually ate it on my wedding day and was quite pleased!!;
The cake was included in the cost as were the floral centerpieces. Both were perfect;
We liked the set-up - we did not want our guests to be near the dance floor as it was an older crowd and a very sedate affair at that. The set-up was perfect for us;
We had to guarantee 100 people and we had the deluxe menu option for $85 pp (the premier menu was $90 per person);
Our cocktail hour was outside and there was more food than we knew what to do with;
Powerlines? Yep, can't argue with you there. However, show me a street that doesn't have powerlines? We had a great photographer who took awesome shots and there were no powerlines to be seen. We also took some pictures across the street by the water. We used the Sans Souci as a back-drop (it's an old mansion as Claud made reference to) in addition to the water. It was spring, so all the trees were in bloom and very nice.
Of course, there were many reasons we chose the Sans Souci, and after having our reception there, I can say it was perfect. So I'd be too biased to give a review of the Coral House. I will give you some reasons we did not chose it:
did not cater to one function at a time;
(IMO) I did not like the food at the last wedding I went to there (hubby thought the cocktail hour was to Price Club like, food wise);
several of my friends got married there and we were looking for something different;
I used to work for Brian Ferguson, brother of the owner Bill. It kind of was a conflict of interest for me.
Whatever you decide, your wedding will be as perfect as you plan it to be. Good Luck with your decision. Take the good and bad reviews with a grain of salt. Like me, everyone will always be biased to the place they chose. Everyone has different tastes, wants and needs, and they may not be what's best for you. You won't go wrong with either place. Both have stellar reputations, and have been around for some time.
Good Luck. Keep us posted on your decision. forum mail me if you have any questions.
