Did anyone do this? We're considering it and need to make a decision SOON!! If you have decided to do this, which company are you using?
I've researched *several* companies and found pricing to be in the $800-$1500 range, plus $65-$95 per year storage fees.
If we don't store it, we may donate it... Decisions, decisions!!!!

Re: Cord Blood Banking...
Scott and I plan on donating the cord blood. I don't want it wasted since it may help another child but I just cannot 'prepare' for our child to have a deadly disease. It is just not something that we feel is a good thing to do- almost like bad luck.

We used Cryo-Cell. They were the cheapest at the time of the 5 companies acceptable at the hospital where I delivered. It was a few hundred plus shipping of the sample to the lab by air courier. I pay $50/yr storage.

Re: Cord Blood Banking...
we use Viacord/. Rob did a LOT of research on this...and found this to be the best fit for us. I am a superstitious person too...but I wanted to take all options open to us so we did this. I figured this is insurance.,and you hope to never use it

We are planning on using Viacord. My father has leukemia ... so, I talked with my mom and Uncle about this and it makes all the sense in the world for him, baby and daughter and whoever else is in the family.

I plan on doing it. I think we're going with Cryo-Cell. They cost only a few hundred dollars to start, and then under $100 a year to maintain. It just seems worth it.

Thanks for all of your responses, ladies!!! I think we're going to go w/ CorCell. They're $1350 (includes courier) + $95 for annual storage fees.
They're having a 'Father's Day Special' (a bit weird!), where they waive the 1st 2 years storage costs ($190) if we register by June 15th.
We're definitely making a decision this Friday when I see my OB... I'll ask for her recommendation and go from there!! Confusing!!

I have just read an article on this, and they say it really can save your childs life. This will be a big decision for me!
