it takes 2 hours because there's usually only 1 person handling the passports booth and it always happens that the person on line in front of you has filled out a form incorrectly or is missing something and takes forever to write out the check.
my sister had a great experience at the PO in Hicksville though since all of their employees are able to process the forms.
I was done in 15 minutes at Massapequa, FH took about 25 cause we went to Hicksville where the line is always out the door. No where near 2 hours.

I just got one in January, my first one. It costs $97 for your first, the $157 is if you expedite it. For the person who is going to Mexico on your honeymoon, you dont need a passport for that, just a birth certificate. I think next year or the year after is when they are going to require one for Mexico and Canada.
