I've decided I'm going to give the readers corsages. My question is do I have to call and find out what color dress they are wearing or get a corsage to match my wedding colors? My groomsmen will have lavender roses. What is everyone doing?

Re: Corsages as gifts
We did not do any corsages. They are kind of outdated and my mom and grandmother hate them anyway.

Re: Corsages as gifts
We gave our readers a coursage. We got them an orchid and just picked the color that we wanted. We also gave them a gift at the RD.

Re: Corsages as gifts
We got them for the female reader and the woman who brought up the gifts at the mass (no parents or grandparents to worry about.) The florist just did white flowers with a few pink ones thrown in for a little color. She figured that way it wouldn't really clash with whatever they were wearing.
We didn't have them match the other flowers b/c I did fall colors and had a lot of peach and orange, which could clash, depending on what they wore.

I didn't know corsages are outdated. Is anyone not getting them for their Mom and FMIL? what are you doing instead (flower-wise)?

Re: Corsages as gifts
I don't think they are. For my enagement party I had a wrist corsage. My Mom and Grandma are very happy about it, so is my FMIL. To each his own guess.

That makes sense. Maybe I'll do that.

A lot of people do mini bqs instead.

Re: Corsages as gifts
I wanted my mom and fmil to carry a mini bok but they didnt like the idea so we did corsages even though I was against it.
For the readers I would just do white. Its weddingy and will match whatever they are wearing.

Re: Corsages as gifts
I asked my mom if she wanted a min bouquet , or a single flower or somethign, but she wanted a coursage, so that set the trend. She & MIL had double ivory roses & the readers had single ivory roses. The grandmas has cymbidiumorchids b/c the florist said they are light weight. Other than my mom, I didn't ask anyone's opinios. It would have been too much coordinating with all the outfits.

Re: Corsages as gifts
we gave corsages to our reader (DH's Godmother), both mothers and both grandmothers. We did different flowers for each of them. Mothers: Roses to match the BM bouquets Grandmothers: Orchids Reader: Single rose

Re: Corsages as gifts
My florist did these for the Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine. It was a whole article on mini bqs.
I know this started as a question about the readers and corsages but since others asked, another alternative is to attach the corsage to the womans clutch. My mom did not want a corsage either nor did she like the idea of a mini bouquet. I left the ball in her court and she had the florist attach a cluster of orchids to her purse/clutch. Just another option to throw out there!

Re: Corsages as gifts
I don't think weddings are about trends. Corsages are classic and traditional. Our mothers and grandmothers are all having corsages. Not to say that other peoples ideas are not great. Everyone should do what fits their day and style. I'll tell you this though: the details of my day will not be decided by which way the wind happens to be blowing this season.....

My mom doesn't want a corsage, thinks they are for old ladies. My FMIL is getting one.
