Corsages as gifts

I've decided I'm going to give the readers corsages. My question is do I have to call and find out what color dress they are wearing or get a corsage to match my wedding colors? My groomsmen will have lavender roses. What is everyone doing?

I agree about not going with the current trend...whtever my mom and fmil and grandmothers want is what we'll get for them...readers too!
