Mine is included. What are you talking about -- it may be worth taking the prrofs and having them scanned on to a disc by a photoplace -- like $28.

We bought the CD after the wedding from Duet and they charged us $100. I think it's worth it though.

Re: Cost of a CD of all your wedding proofs??

Photo places wont scane proofs because they are copyright protected...and scanned images loose a lot of their quality. Can you negotiate a price with them?

Our photog told us that if we wanted to get something reproduced, that the photo place can just call the photographer bc of the copyright and she would give the okay.

Randi - would your photog possibly consent to that?

Re: Cost of a CD of all your wedding proofs??

When I was thinking about using Glenmar... I think they said that they hold onto all the negatives (if they shoot film) and the originall TIFFs (if they shoot digital).

This is their way to make mad $$$$ of asking for extra copies of pictures that aren't included with any packages.

You might be able to negotiate and buy the negatives and/or TIFFs on CD after 6 months or a year. I forget the date exactly.

Re: Cost of a CD of all your wedding proofs??

Ours is included with the package. You need to be careful though. Most places that offer the CD for extra $$ do not offer a CD that you can reprint pictures from. The CD's are only viewable on the computer. You need to specifically ask if you can reprint from them and then you need to check that there is a minimum of 300 dpi or your pictures will not print nicely.

If they include the actual picture files from the camera somewhere on the CD. Even if you can only view it from the computer.... there are ways around anything when it comes to a PC.

Ok--welll it was not negotiated and I didn't even ask if it was, just wanted to know how much- and she could not give me a price over the phone right away- she had to ask Barry-- which I know people ask about this all the time..

Anyway- Joey told me $580. We are actually thinking about getting the Art Nouveau book- so, we think we will use that as a negotiating tactic.

I don't know.. FFIL I think has a scanner- so we can do it ourselves.. but, I just like the idea of having allof our wedding proofs digitallly- and using iphoto and stuff- we can crop them, make them black & white, etc. I think it is worth the money-- it's like buying all your negatives.

I need to check on the type of files they are- for almost 600 bucks, they better be print ready!

Not everyone is computer savvy enough to get around those ways. My best friend is a graphic designer and she made sure the photographer I was using had Hi resolution CD/DVD's with a minimum of 300 dpi. Without that your pictures will fade in a few months. Then I wouldn't think it would be worth the $$. - JMO

OMG, my FH is going to die and before he does he's going to kill me!!!! He's been so mad we're even paying the amount we are for pictures. He could care less about an album, all he wants is to be able to see his pics on his computer. He already hit the roof when he found out we don't get the negatives for 3-5 years.

Re: Cost of a CD of all your wedding proofs??

Talked to barbara about it, she said that every winter they call all the bride and grooms who had their weddings 3 years prior and ask them if they want to buy their negatives. However, if they are busy, that 3 year mark could be 4 or 5 years. So basically, if your getting married in 2005, in 2008 they might call you and sell you the negatives for $60 bucks or so.
i'm sending you an FM too.
