Cost of alterations...general advice?

Hi all - Just wondering, in general, what the cost of alterations are. I know some places put a cap on their charges while others do the 'a la carte' prices. Can you give me an idea of what you got done and how much it cost? Thanks!! :)

Cost of alterations...general advice?

Kathi, I just went last week to the seamstress and I am having a ton of work done on my dress. For her to fix the sleeves alone $60. A bridal shop would have charged 150 at least. total my alterations are costing $290 which I didnt think was bad considering the amount of work she has to do. Good luck. Ill be home tomorrow night if you want want to talk. Lisa

Cost of alterations...thanks everyone!!

I bought my dress on-line (saved over $200!) and my alterations are $180 for hemming (she`s actually dropping the hem - I`m 5`11' and need all the help I can get!), taking it in, doing work on the sleeves and shoulders and adding a bustle! Not bad! Thanks again, for the responses, I just wanted to make sure my cost was in the ballpark! :)
