cost of BM dresses
How much is too much to ask a bridesmaid to pay for a dress? The one I am interested in costs 190$ without alterations. (I only priced it in one place). Thanks.

I think it depends on the financial situation of your BMs. My BM dress is $198 w/o alterations plus the wrap is about $40. I felt that was fair and the girls like the dress. I asked 3 out of 7 if they felt the cost of the outfit was fair, and each said yes. (I asked the ones I knew would tell me if they thought it was too high). Also, my mom and stepmom are throwing my shower so the girls are not paying for that. But if I was younger and all of my friends were in college or just out of school I would probably have gotten a much cheaper outfit. Or if they were throwing my shower. Again, it all depends on the sitution your BMs are in. Talk to one of them and get a feel.

look on bridesmade.com....I got my bridesmaids dresses on there for $45, (orig 230$ bianchi dresses) - you have to order from the website, but I chose a classic style that can be altered up or down. I received them today and they are brand new and very pretty. The people you deal with after you order are helpful and friendly. good luck!

Well, for the wedding I am in in December, the dress cost $265, with mathcing wrap and tax, not alterations. I have no idea how much the dress is that I'm considering for my wedding, but I hope to keep it under that total.

After Six - $143 (with a 15% discount) and $40 for alterations. I searched and searched until I could find the best price. Usually if you get the girls dresses where you bought your dress - they will give you 10% off! My FH's stepmom's cousin owns a bridal store and she gaves us the 15%.

My girls dresses are Impression Bridal, and are $178.00 with tax, not including alterations. Their strapless, so I'm having spaghetti straps put on.

My BM dresses ranged from $95 - $150 (they're wearing different styles). Retail prices were $150-$240 but I ordered online and saved them a lot. I was in a wedding a few months ago where the dresses were $250. I thought that was expensive.

Talk to your BM's and see if they can afford it. I have been a bridesmaid 5 times and have paid various prices for the dresses - to have them all sit in my closet never to be worn again. Between the bachlorette party, the shower, the BM dress, shoes, hair, gifts for you etc... it becomes very costly for a BM usually @ $1000 after it is all added up. I am going to have my BM's pick out their own dresses - this way I know it will be something they like and can wear again.

We ordered Mori Lee dresses they were $140 including alterations. $153 with tax. I saw it at one place but really liked the people at the place I got my dress at and kind of bargained with them and got it for 20 dollars cheaper.

My girls paid $195 for the dress without alterations. I think that is pretty resonable.

my BM dresses are by Wtoo, and they are $186 w/o alterations. I think to ask anyone to spend over $250 is crazy. Most of these dresses will never be worn again! Continued success to all...

My Dessy dresses are over $200 in the store and I got them for $150. It is a mail order company which you may be leary of but I used them before in my friends wedding- it is totally legitimate- it just eliminates the middle man which brings the cost way down.

My BM dresses are by Bill levkoff and I got it for them for $205plus tax with alterations included. I looked at several places and they were charging $270. So I think I got a really good deal.

I picked mine out at Bridal Reflections who wanted $180 for a B2 dress, plus a cap of $55 for alterations. I am going to order them from Pearls Place online for $125, no tax.

I also ordered them online, but through gownsales.com and save about $70 per dress. The dresses were originally $210 and my bridesmaids didn`t have a problem paying that, but I wanted to save them money if I could. Good luck!

I agree with Michele
You know your BMs the best My original dress came $140 (bari-jay)...I could have ordered it online, but my BMs said not to...they would rather deal with a salon...but the manufacturer discontinued the bead during the time I chose the dress and finally ordered the dress..so I had to pick a new one... The new one is $170 + tax and alterations...I will put $30 on each of my BMs accounts to make up for the price... I have only one BM that has financial problems...but I am concerned for her... When my sister and I looked for her BM dresses and saw one dress we loved it was $250 and I didn't care, b/c I loved the dress so much... happy planningWelcome New Vendors
