Cost of Bridesmaid Dresses?

What is the approximate cost of your bridesmaids dresses? I went looking this past weekend with 3 of the girls and we all fell in love with one is was $178.00 I thought that was expensive for me to expect them to pay, I have been calling around to find the same dress, but basically they are all in the same price range.

I wish I could have dresses for that much.. The ones I saw were 250-350.. and to me that's ridiculous.. I have 12 bms!! I DEF suggest you check out www.netbride.com they are great!

My bridesmaides dresses cost $180. I am also maid of honor for my Maid of Honor and we went to David's Bridal. I thought they would of been cheaper but they were $170.

Did you check Burtons Bridals in Huntington/Melville? I found a dress I loved at Macys but it was over $200. Burtons quoted me $140 for the same dress. ( I also saved over $400 on my wedding dress from them). They cap the BMs' dress alterations at $40. They're worth a shot.
P.S. I don't think $178 is terrible for a BM dress.

Mine were $178 also. The bridal shop gave us 10% off (since I ordered my dress from there), so the total w/ tax was around $173. Most of the dresses that we looked at were in that price range.

I can not complain. When my BF got married (I was in the BP), our dresses costs $400. I can not believe that she was making us spead $400 for a dress. So $178 for a BM is not that bad.

My girls spent $200 for the gown, $55 for their wrap. Everyone really loved the outfit so it was okay with them to spend the money on it.

My BM dresses came to $287 each, no alterations. I couldn't ask my friends to pay that much, so I am putting $100 towards each and they will pay $187, and then pay for their alterations. The place that i ordered from does not offer alterations on BM dresses.

Mines were $110 from Davids Bridal.

I got fairly plain black bridemaids dresses, halter style, nice material with a little sweep train from www.bridesmade.com for 45$ each.

I let all my girls pick their own dress by Dessy/After Six. They all ranged in price from $111 to $150 (before tax and alterations). I bought them from RK Bridal. (They offer no-frills plan which winds up being about 30-40 off the regular price). They will also beat any price (I know people who have done that too.)

I have been in a bunch of bridal parties and the dresses always wind up about $200 or so with alterations. My feeling is if you accept to be in a bridal party, you know you are going to have to spend $$ on a dress, shoes, hair, shower, etc.

I ordered my Jim Hjelm dresses from Netbride for about $100 less than what they wanted from RK Bridal.
They just arrived, all tags on and they're perfect.

mine were 110 from davids bridal and they are gorgeous, but i had orginally looked at more expesive dresses and since i had 8 bm they took a discount 10% off. ( i wound up liking the cheaper dresses after all though..)

The dress that I think we are going to get costs 350 before alterations. FH and I will be paying 150 of the dress for each girl which will bring the dress price for them to 200.

for those of you who used netbride, what exactly did you do? Find the style number and then order closet size based on measurements?

Also then what are you doing about alterations?

I would like to save them money and I myself ordered my gown online the same way but i didnt need any alterations, I was sample size, but my Bm wont be as lucky I am sure.

we ordered online, but didn't use netbride.

We had the measurements taken at a salon, and ordered the appropriate size using those measurements. Most of the websites carry the manufacturers size charts. We ordered 6 different dresses using two different sites. Everything came in within 1-2 months and all the dresses were exactly what we ordered.

We saved about $50-75/dress, which made my BMs dresses range from $100-$150 (All the girls wore different dresses from Dessy/After-Six).

Alterations were done mostly by my MIL, but two of my friends had theirs done at tailors.

We went to RK bridal and tried on the sample then based everyone's size by how tight the sample was.
i.e. my sister fit perfectly into the sample and it was a 10. my cousin is a bit bigger than my sister and the sample was snug so we went one size up. my other cousin is a full size bigger than her sister so we went another size up, etc.

There are also size charts on netbride so that you can have the girls measure themselves and you order based on the largest size.

I found a seamstress in Manhattan to do all the alteraions.
