cost of honeymoon

Original post by pjc92980

Hi Ladies
Fh and i are trying to book our honeymoon and it is pricing out to more than i anticipated. I was just wondering around how much you ladies are spending and how long you are going for. We are looking to go to costa rica for 12 days and we have miles to use for airfare. hotels alone are coming to almost $5000 and that is not including all meals or any activities. Is it too expensive???

We plan on going to Maui, Hawaii for 7 days and one travel agent priced us around $5000. This includes airfare, hotel stay, and car rental.

We went a little crazy for our honeymoon. We only took one week in St. Lucia at Sandals Grande and figured that Sandals would be a viable option for a vacation in the future so we wanted this trip to stand out. Air + Hotel + Excursions was over $10k.

we didn't set a budget... but since you asked, it made me realize we were actually in the 7-10 bracket (and that's with a free hotel stay already)

the memories are ALL worth it though!

Since we have July off (FH doesn't start his new job till August, and I don't have a job in NY yet!), we decided to take advantage of that month- so we are going for 24 days to Spain and Italy.

We will probably end up spending about $11,000-$12,000 with the exchange rate. That would be for 24 nights of hotels, meals, tickets, tours, flights, ferries, etc.

Thanks! I'm really excited- I spend my junior year (2002-2003) in Rome and did a lot of traveling, so I am really ready to get back over there! Fh has never been to either country, so he is looking forward to it- and he has a built-in semi-tour guide

Our HM is costing $10,000 - and that's just hotels and airfare. Oh, breakfast is included and some tours!

We are going to Hong Kong and Thailand for over two weeks. The airfare alone cost us about $5,000!!

I figure this will hopefully be our last big vacation for a while!!!

We're going on a 11 night Mediterranian Cruise (Rome, Sicily, Egypt-but probably being rerouted to Istanbul, Esphesus Turkey, Athens, Rhodes Greece and Crete Greece). We originally paid $4600 for two but the price dropped to $3800. Air was with miles but appx $1K each. And we're staying in Rome for 2 extra nights-anybody have hotel recommendations? With tours and extras, prob around $10K.

Rome- Look at the Hotel Tiziano or the Hotel Campo de Fiori. They are in the Historic center and very central. This means you can walk most places and not have to deal with the pickpockets on public transportation.

I lived in that neighborhood when I studied there, and I would recommend paying a bit more to stay there. DO NOT stay around Termini!

We're planning to spend between $4 and $5K. We'd like to stock pile as much cash as we can after the wedding....although it would be fun to blow it all on a crazy honeymoon, I know I would regret it on the plane ride home

LOVED the Hawaii cruise...did it last June...HIGHLY recommend it as the best way to see alot of the islands and sights.....also DEF recommend a helicopter tour on Kuai (we did one that landed at the waterfall from the opening scene of Jurassic Park!!!!) or over Volcanoes National Park
