My FI and I went to pick up my FBIL from college today and stopped at a diner in Connecticut...we picked up one of those Real Estate book just to look...OMG something that would cost over 500,000 or more here is like 319,000 there I thought I was going to be sick...Long Island is so insane

Re: Cost of Living
I am sure along with Greenwich, that Wilton, Weston and Westport weren't included in that book either. Cheaper does not always mean better.

Re: Cost of Living
I would def look into relocating but we can't, FI won't leave his daughter and I don't blame him one bit. Besides my whole fam is here and when my bro moved upstate it really hurt us. I don't want to do that, but the cost of living is really getting to the both of us!!!

Re: Cost of Living
Although i dont think southern fairfield county CT house prices are much cheaper, I do think you can get a better price on your taxes and cost of living in general.
in general, the farther you are from the city the better the prices.
but if you are near greenwich, stamford, darien, westport, wilton and new canaan, its definitely along the lines of LI prices, if not more expensive. but you will still get the tax savings.
