Cost of Photographer?

Cost of Photographer?

I am trying to get a sense of what certain things will cost and I'm now thinking about a photographer. My sister got married three years ago and had Duet do her photos, and it was around $3000. Think she had a video too. I want to get one for less - not sure if her price was high, low or average ... can anyone give me some idea of what they are paying for photos? I do not need a video, just photos, with the standard albums - one for me and one for both sets of parents. Also I do not need two, just one photographer. I loved Duet's work - it's amazing - but I do not know if I can afford them.

Thanks ladies!

Duet will cost you about $5000 for photo and video now, but you may be able to work something out with them if you don't include albums.

average for photo is probably around 3-5K, with video, 4-6K, depending on your package

I was quoted between 2200-2600 for just photos with no albums. Thats for two photographers.
Try Thomas Paul, Silverfox, Twelfth Night. Thomas Paul first though. He's great and works with your budget.

I highly recommend Gary from Leli Photography! I'm using him for my wedding...Check out his website Leli Photography
His packages start at $3,000 but they include an album, all proofs on CD/DVD and full day coverage. Good luck with your planning

Thanks. I actually found some great names by searching for this topic (old threads) and am in the process of making a little spreadsheet up for when it's time to go visit photographers... but I am confident I can get something for $2-$3K since I do not need a video.

Thanks again!

I DEFINITELY recommend Gary - we're using him as well. We are NOT getting an album or any extras like parent albums (I can do this all myself) & we're being charged 2K even...

If you are willing to do the work for yourself (albums, etc) you will save a LOT of money. Our package includes all 4X6 proofs, a cd & dvd of all our pics!

we booked with jeffrey studio ... prices range from 1000-4000+ depending on what you are looking for, albums, number of photographers etc. Check them out - ask for Alan!

Davenjess, that's exactly what I want - proofs and all photos on a CD. I can print them myself. My sister told me about albums you can buy on ebay that are very professional and leather bound, etc, that I can just slide the photos into. Plus, shutterfly makes pretty nice books.

I have made a little list of all the ones you have all suggested and I will be calling around soon! Thanks.

Re: Cost of Photographer?

One more thing - ok, two.

1 - for those just getting digital photos on a cd, did your photographer charge you a fee for this --like a royalty fee, permission to print as many as you want, whenever you want, where you want? I don't think they should but people have told me that they might.

2 - should i ask for negatives too? do pictures printed from negatives come out better than digital?

THANKS!
