Cost of wedding dress.........

I'm not sure if there is a thread out there about this but I'm just wondering what the cost of a wedding dress is. I know that there are dresses out there in a wide range of prices, but I'm talking about the average dress. I haven't started shopping for dresses yet but just wondering what I should expect since I'm oblivious of the cost.

I say average is about 1500.

It really depends on what you are looking for. You can find simple dresses for $500 or very ornate dress that will run you into the thousands of dollars.

imo, you arent gonna get the answer you're looking for by asking this question. They vary greatly... its all about how much you are willing to spend... I;d like to say most girls stay around the 1000-1500 mark but I could be totally wrong...

The best thing you could do is to make a poll on the board with different price ranges and see what most are saying...

I would agree with $1500 being average. I think a friend's recent eve of milady gown was $2800 or something close to that

i knew i didnt want to spend more than $1000..and i didnt..i spent well under $1000 on my dress..so it really just depends on what you are looking for and what appeals to you..the best way to find out is to go looking for a dress..

Defiantely check out the knot. You'd be surprised at how some simple looking dresses are more then ones with lots of detail. Also remember some deisgners are more then others as well. My dress is a Maggie and was under 1,000.

i think it depends on what kind of a dress you want. Designer dresses are more expensive so they can go up pretty high. Personally, I don't plan on spending more than $1500.

My dress is by Maggie Sottero. I purchased it at Helen's Bridal in Commack and it was $1,100.00 dollars. But when you get your dress from them you can either save money on the dress or get a free veil. And then they gave me two garters for free when I ordered plus a Maggie Sottero beach bag.

I highly recommend them. If you go ask for Ashley!!

I read on some newspaper article that the average is about $900, but I am sure in other parts of the country they spend much less on dresses than us LI-ers are used to! Not everyone can just march into Kleinfeld and see dresses that cost thousands.... so I bet our perception of cost is pretty messed up.

The dress I liked was a Paloma Blanca and it was just around the $1500 mark... I tried on a Casablanca that was $1200. It doesnt only depend on the designer, it also depends on the fabric. The Paloma was raw silk and alconen (i definitely spelled that wrong) lace which are both very expensive.

the dress i thought i wanted was demetrios and was almost 3000

i wound up not loving it as much when i tried it on. i wound up falling in love with an alfred angelo lace dress for under $900

yeah.... definitely depends. one dress i'm looking at is around 1600 and the other is almost 2000!

they range dramatically... you can find a dress for as low as $99 at one of the David Bridal sales all the way up to $20k++. I saw a $20k dress at one boutique and didn't try it on because I didn't want to like it!

I'd say many designers have dresses in the $750-2000 range, but there are certainly those that go far above that.

You can probably find a dress you like in any budget. If $$$$ is a big concern you can always go to a sample sale or go to www.preownedweddingdresses.com

i paid 2600 for mine, which was more than i wanted to spend, but i just fell in love with the dress!!! even my mother, the practical bargainer, didn't want me to leave without it!!!

I've tried on dresses that were in the 700's to ones that were 6k so it depends on the gown that you want. Some places ask you to pick a budget first and they won't even show you certain dresses. I say pick a style or certain dress first and see what you think of the dress for that price.
