Cost of you BM dresses?

Original post by Babydoll21

I want to see what everyone is spending on their BM dresses...
I found a dress that I like but its over $200...

It posted before I got a chance to finish my choices, lol!
I was going to add a $250 and $300 choice.

Thanks!

Thanks girls! Seems like everyone is around the 150-200 range.
I feel a little better now!

The ones I picked are 240, but that's not what we're paying for them

They were $258 before tax BUT i did the no frills program at RK and the dresses came out to $186 since we did no frills. My MOH had a different dress and hers was also around the $260 range and hers came out to even less when she did no frills, it was about $170

I had wanted to be under the $150 range but unfortunately the dress that was picked was above that so I offered to contribute $50 to each girl for their dress to help offset the cost.

Mine are between $200-$250...I'm buying their dresses for them, all 8 of them!!!! I felt it was a little too much to ask them to pay for the dresses.

Mine came out to $115. We did the no frills program at RK bridal though so this did not include the cost of measurements or alterations..

ok well when you go to RK bridal you will see that each dress has a price tag with one price on the front and one price on the back. The price on the back is their no frills program price. It was very easy and no trouble at all and since they saved alot of money we went with that.

This is how it works. We went to the store and tried on dresses the way you normally would. Then since we said we wanted to do the no frills program, all they did was give me a sheet that i had to fill out. Each designer has their own sheet. On the sheet it shows how the measurements and sizes are for that particular designer. You just fill out your name on there. And then you write down how many dresses you are getting and the size for each dress. Then also style number of the dress and the color you want. In the store they have a swatch book so you can pick a color off of that. Then just had to put credit card info at the bottom and thats it. We used CC and the thing is since you are getting all the dresses together you do use just 1 credit card. I put it on mine and the girls all just gave me the money so worked out. The thing with no frills is that you dont get alterations there thats all. You can bring it anywhere you want. The girls didnt have a problem with this bc they either had someone to bring it to like a seamstress or the dry cleaners. My cousin didnt know anybody so i brought them to a seamstress I knew who gave them a discount.

The salesperson at RK bridal sat down with us to explain to us how it works. She also asked if any of us by any chance live in NJ . We all are from NYC, BUT 1 bm had a summer house in NJ so the salesperson suggested we have the dresses shipped to her address in NJ bc NJ there are no taxes so if its shipped there you don't get charged tax. My bm said this was not a problem bc she goes to her jersey house all the time and she can just pick it up when it arrives. So it was real easy bc all we had to do was fill out that 1 sheet of paper and then you can have the dresses shipped wherever you want. When they arrived my bm just picked them up and then i got them from her and dropped them off to the girls. It was worth since they saved $80-100

Alfred Angelo... 140 for the girls, but 160 for the MOHs... Since most of them had to buy 3 rather then one...(3 of the adults have 2 of their kids in the party lol) i decided to be as nice as possible. I let the 2 MOHs and 1 BM pick out the dress. They like it, they can wear it again, so that's what makes me happy. lol

My girls' dresses cost 190 before alterations. Then the alterations are an additional 75.

Did you have to take the girls measurements yourselves or was someone there able to take them for you?
Also- Do they quote you prices over the phone?

Thanks, very helpful info

They will quote prices over the phone. They did when I called about my dress. And no, a part of the no frills program is that they do NOT measure you. Your girls have to get it done somewhere else or do it themselves.

Did you try calling Burton's for a price? I found mine for $200 everywhere I went, but then Carol gave me a much better price at Burton's. Also, try houseofbrides.com, they have really good deals on dresses too!

Re: Cost of you BM dresses?

Mine were 198 plus tax and alterations. I didnt want to ask the BM to spend that much but they were more than happy to because the dresses are high quality and actually wearable again.

I have not tried burtons yet but i will check. As of now Bridal Elegance gave me the best price...

Mine were 195, but due to Jcrews sale and coupon codes, most girls got them for 135 including shipping!!!

Re: Cost of you BM dresses?

I do not want my BM spending more than $200. Alfred Angelo has dresses that I like and prices from 150-175. I think I will go with him. He has my fav color and there are a lot of styles that I like.

My question is...how do I get me BM to try on dresses? There are no stores that are Alfred Angelo and the stores that I have went to do not carry all the styles I like and do not have a large range of sizes????
