Could it be? Almost finished?

I just wanted to share. I can finally see the end in sight. We have been doing a lot of work on our house and many, many projects have been started and none of them really completed.

Here's one of them in progress. We took down the railing in the living room and replaced it with a wall with arch style windows that looks into the foyer/stairs (front entrance). This is a before - notice the old door which was eventually replaced and that hideous thing called a light:

And this is what is looks like now - ready to be painted this weekend!! We already have our living room couches delivered and I can't wait to open them up and use them!! The arches will have a wrought iron railing put in them so that no one can tumble through! The cut-outs are open and will not be filled in like a window.

Great idea! That really looks beaautiful. I love the way the arch of the door is echoed on the wall.

Thank you - and yes, I can't wait until it's done. It's been a long process from scratch, but I am very proud of my hubby for doing it all. And that's just one of the many 'construction projects' we have going on at home!!

We did have someone come in and tile the entry way though. It was a lot of work, espeially because we wanted the wall tiled half way up....

You know I'll be back to post final pics when it's done.

My hubby got the idea in Architectural Digest I think and just went for it. And the railing that was there was old and not baby/child proof. A small child could literally put his/her body through it. And because the new door we put in had an arched window, we went for it. I can't wait for it to all be done.

I'll post pictures as we go. The walls will be a tan/beigy color with white moldings and deep red accents (throw pillows, drapes, etc.). Very neutral.
