Couples Shower?

Did anyone have a couples shower instead of a Bridal Shower? I've heard something about this but not sure about it. Is this a shower for both the bride and groom instead of the typical bridal shower for the bride?

Re: Couples Shower?

Welp Im not suppose to know but I found out at my shower on the invites it said wishing well for the groom now depending on how many gifts are in it, my FH will come and open his gifts after me. If its not full not to embarrass anyone cause this is still very new to some people he will just open at home whats ever in there. I know its right around the corner I think- Im trying to narrow it down. lol I will let you know how it goes. I have a ton of old fashioners in my and his family so Im curious to see what happens.

Re: Couples Shower?

I've been to a couples shower before. In my own opinion, it just wasn't the same. The shower is where you and all the girls get together for a good time to laugh and sometimes even make jokes about the FH.... It's a time to let loose and really enjoy your girls!

Re: Couples Shower?

A friend of mine had one, and in my opinion it was more fun than the traditional shower. I am not a fan of wedding showers, however, and did not have one myself, so I guess I am biased

Basically, it was friends of both the bride and the groom and they got presents that most brides would get- mostly stuff for the house and I think they did do the wishing well.

Re: Couples Shower?

I am having one because I requested it. Im not really into the whole 'girly' shower thing, but that is just me. I felt bad because that meant double the invites, but in a way I do not think everyones husband/boyfriend will come. So as long as some come. i wanted my friends there and since 80% of my friends are guys, I asked for the couples shower. Plus, my FH LOVES opening gifts. He will probably tear into everything before I get to read the card! My FMIL is going to throw me a separte 'girly' showy with what she calls the 'old ladies.' She said there will be some woman who dont feel comfy at a guy/girl shower. So I get 2 showers, so that is a plus!!

Re: Couples Shower?

I had one. To be honest when the 'rumors' started going around that I would be having this kind of shower I was upset. Fast forward to after it ......it was awesome. I am not one for being the center of attention and this def.. took some off of me. So much more fun then a tradional shower in my opinion

Re: Couples Shower?

OK....My cuz did it who just happens to be screen name ghthomson (see above) ....hey Lady.

Now I am not just saying this but it was a lot of fun! It was such a great time....at First I don't know if my FH was that excited about it but when it was all over I knew that he enjoyed himself and got to meet a lot of people that are going to be at the wedding...so that was a plus.

And to spice it up they a game that was a riot. They did a spin off of the newly wed game and they had 4 couples come up.

one who was just married, one who was married for ever, one that was married 2 years and me and my FH....OMG what laughs. Just a thought!

Cheers!

D

Re: Couples Shower?

I definately think the traditional shower is better. You can be girly and act silly!

Re: Couples Shower?

we thought about doing it but then we realized it would be too much like a wedding. Also, the men don't want to be involved anyway.

Re: Couples Shower?

I was at one - it was nice but if you're looking for a traditional shower this isn't it. The guess all congregated over by the bar and the girls crowded around as we opened gifts - it was like a typical party!

I loved this shower, it was nice having DH there and it realliy broke up the monotony that some showers have! I REALLY wanted a jack and jill shower, but DH said no! Good luck in you're planning!

Re: Couples Shower?

If you do not have an engagement party, then a couples shower is a nice way to get everyone together!!!

My FH and I are not sure what we will do.

we threw a cocktail party souples shower for my friend and it was so much fun. most of her friends are married or in relationships and they all know her FH so it made sense.

Re: Couples Shower?

I've never been to a regular shower or a couples shower, but I have thought about having a combined one. I have also been considering a combined bachelor/bachelorette party.
