Couples Shower?

Re: Couples Shower?
We are not having an engagement party. I find them unnecessary. As far as the shower goes, I don't see how FH or any of his friends would be remotely interested in watching us open a blender. FH is the LAST of his 'crew' to get married. They just want to give him one hell of a bachelor party. That is HIS night. The shower is MINE. I don't wish to have a bachelorette party that would be much more than a spa thing or a night in Atlantic City. I am going to be pushing 36 years old by the time I get married, and I have no desire to see naked men or go to Lucky Chengs. Overdone. JMO.

Re: Couples Shower?
We're going to have a couples shower/BBQ at a relative's house. The thought of a female shower only doesn't really appeal to me. I'd rather have both families get together and meet each other before the wedding, and I think this will be a good way to do it (my family is from NJ/Florida and FH's is from LI).

Re: Couples Shower?
Thanks for your responses, I guess Jack and Jill Shower is what I meant. I think I would prefer it that way. I hate all the attention being on me as well and my FH will have a great time opening gifts with me. As someone else mentioned I think it is a great way for our family to get together before the wedding since we didn't have an engagement party.

Re: Couples Shower?
I am all for them. I do absolutely everything with my fiance and I can't imagine not sharing a bridal shower with him. (Hey, he's coming dress shopping with me!) We have told our families that we want to share one, and also that we are doing our bachelor/-ette parties together. Some people and families are more traditional though and I can see why ladies-only parties have their appeal.
