Court Stenographer

I am interested in becoming one. Would anyone know how to go about it, if I have to take a certain class. I have an Associates Degree in the field of Legal Secretary. Any info would be great!! Thanks!

you need to go to stenography school. I know there is one in Long Island

My friend does this for a living, its a great job

if you know stenography...then you could just sign up for the test...

check the county's or states civil service info...

I know a bunch of court stenographers. Most went to Stenotopia (sp?) in Hicksville. Some had college degrees, some didn't.

It's a great career. The stenos I know who freelance make lots of money...hard work, but lots of money. You can also work for an agency-still decent money.

Its in Valley Stream, Business Information Systems. You dont need any college its all theory and practice

My friend freelances only and makes a ton of money part time.

I am a court reporter, have been for 8 years. You have to go to school for it. It is self paced according to speed. It does take a few years. I will forum mail you info later tonight. On my way out the door.
