courtyard marriott republic airport vs huntington hilton

we are getting married at the riviera at noon and want to plan an afterparty at a nearby hotel. we are thinking of either the marriott courtyard at republic airport or the huntington hilton.

anyone use either? any feedback is appreciated

we're getting married two weeks before you but at 6:30, we're most likely booking the marriott because its closer.

are you planning an afterparty or just a place for the guests to crash? fyi - i talked to a girl from the mariott this sunday at the bridal showcase and she said the bar isn't normally open late.

did you look at any other hotels?

damnit, i talked to her too and she didnt mention that, we havent looked at any others. i know that we definitely want a shuttle, which is why we were looking into the marriott. did you contact the hilton?

i didn't contact the hilton yet. my fh has been there for work events and he liked the hotel a lot. but the chick from the marriott was good at selling us with the shuttle and how new the hotel is.

When I check out the courtyard, I was told the bar closes by 8 pm. Then we looked at the Melville Marriott and the bar closes at 12 (no free shuttles though).

We ended up booking with the Hilton because the bar closes at 2 and they will keep it open till 4 if there are still people there drinking.

were the room rates comparable to the marriott?

The Hilton does offer a shuttle - but it wasn't free. I think it was $600 for a 14 person van (but I could be wrong). I didn't pay much attention to that because we have too many OOTers and need a big a$$ bus! However, I do remember that you get them for the whole night and if you want them to make more than one trip back and forth they will.

We got the highest rate at the Marriott Courtyard, but we didn't try to bargain with them because of the bar situation (our reception doesn't end till midnight so we need a bar to stay open late).

We actually got the lowest rate at the Melville Marriott but again the bar situation wouldn't work for us. However, when we met with the Hilton and told them what rate the Marriott was offering us, she gave us $10 off the Marriott rate!!! It pays to bargain sometimes.

The rooms at the Hilton were very nice and clean. HTH
