Does anyone know if the bridesmaids have to have their shoulders covered in church? The dress they ordered is strapless and comes with a shawl, but I don't want them to wear it because I like the way the dress looks without it. Do you think that is ok for the ceremony even though it is in a church?

Re: Covering shoulders in church?
I think it depends on the church. You should ask your preist/pastor/deacon. They can tell you what the rules are for your particular church.

Ive never heard of that being a rule at a church in this day and age. But its always safe to ask the priest.

Re: Covering shoulders in church?
It was a rule at a church in SI at a wedding I was in about 7 years ago.
It depends on the individual church, can't hurt to ask your priest.

Re: Covering shoulders in church?
I didn't cover my shoulders in church but my bridesmaids did because I felt bad that they bought the shawls and it turned out to be 70 degrees the day of my wedding. I would ask your individual church. I think if they made it a point to tell you at your initial meeting then it would be the church's rule but double check with them.
