Covering your own tattoo?

Original post by LD6906

Hello,
I have a tattoo I would like to get removed on my shoulder blade...but was wondering if there's any makeup I could use to cover it if I don't get it removed before the wedding...does anyone have experience/advice? I would appreciate it :)

Re: Covering your own tattoo?

I actually drew my own tattoo, I didn't pick it off a wall, and I thought long and hard about it, but I was 18, and now I am 29 and my taste has changed! Plus the tattoo has faded and doesn't look nice anymore...Also, the cream stuff is NOT recommended by the FDA, so be careful w/that...and many of them don't list ingredients, and could be harmful...so I think I have to go the $$$ route of removal!
Thans for all of the help here!

Re: Covering your own tattoo?

You need to purchase a 'highly pigmented cover up' and they are not usually available in your local drug store. Check products like 'dermablend' online or 'Instant IGIA cover'. They are super thick and are used to cover tattoos, acne, rosacea, birth marks, etc.

One of the above should do a good job.

Also, covering with airbrush makeup is not as thick and it will not bleed or smudge off.

Any of the other make-ups will also stay on better if you put a top layer of Mac Studio FX powder.

Please let me warn you about Douglas M Monasebian. He did a skin graft on me and left me with more scars than when I came in. He does not have the scar minimzing skills. Everyone tells me i should have no t traded up for a worse scar. I am currently gathering information on him for a malpractice suit and i stumbled across you and felt its my duty as a human to warn you I know you dont know me, im just a stranger on the net but i wouldn't wish the scar and constant need for makeup to hid it on my worst enemy. After i came in to compalin another woman was in the office saying she had lipo which changed her shape but a year later left her skin marred and discolored. I did research on him even paid for a doctor background search and found nothing on him. only after my scarring i found him on of all places a free law website on public law suits! here is a link to it while he lived in nebraska:

I am sure you read his bio on his website which states he hailed from there for a while. So atleast if you dont trust my word you have something else to rely on. Be informed and patient befrore you let anyone touch your body. I hope you do find a good doctor. Goodluck

WOW I can't believe that! the only reason I thought of him and had that confidence was b/c I've seen work that he has done on my boss and a few other people and the work was great... I'll definitely be looking into another surgeon... I'm sorry to hear that he caused such pain & aggravation. & thank you for the heads up!

Re: Covering your own tattoo?

My make-up artist recommended a tattoo cover-up that comes in stick form however she couldn't remember the brand name ...

I've searched on-line without a lot of luck, does anyone know of such a cover-up?
