Has anyone been to Cozumel? It is one of the ports we will be stopping at on our cruise in January and I was just wondering if it's the type of place that we should book an excursion or if we can just walk around and explore on our own? Any help would be great! Thanks!!

Re: Cozumel?
You can do both there! Tons of shops and from there you can go on tours, but be careful of timing!

Tons of fun stuff to do! You dont need an excursion unless you want one. I would suggest Carlos and Charlies for lunch that day! Tell them you are on your HM and they will throw a huge fit. I was there on my 21st birthday and it was out of control. So fun. They walk around with fun shots and the food is good....entertainment. Its a great time!

Edit: Ok I just realized not your honeymoon....but tell them you are recently engaged. They will LOVE it

Re: Cozumel?
i went to cozumel in 2005. it was a stop on my cruise. we did book a jeep excursion, which including snorkeling. it was a lot of fun. we also went into town and went to senor frogs. we had from 10am to 12 midnight on that stop, so we had lots of time for exploration

I secod Carlos & Charlies-stopped in Cozumel while on Freedom of the seas last year.
Did the dolphin swim @ chakannaab park. AMAZING!! Highly recommend it!! It was only about 2 hours (drive; orientation; swim; and drive back). After that we walked took a cab about a 10 minute drive to where the shops & restaurants are. At lunch at C&C-got very drunk of their foot long drinks!! (Food was really yummy). Had shots; then walked and bought some silver.
