We really liked cozumel!!! You take a quick extra flight from Cancun to get there. You can also take a ferry. We went in 1999 and loved it. The food wasn't good though. But everything is really cheap. There is a ton to do. There are so many fish in the water. Much more than any other place I have been. It was our cheapest vacation and probably the best. The only down side was the food. I don't remember what hotel we stayed at because it was so long ago. They don't have any Ritz or Four Seasons on Cozumel. So overall, the hotels are not as swanky but we just really liked it.

One last thing: we have been to a ton of over beach vacations. Puerto Rico, Miami, Bermuda, Mauritius, Barbados, and Jamaica. I would really recommend Mexico overall in terms of value for your money compared to the others.

I have been to Cozumel 3 times and I love it every time. It is such a beautiful place. My favorite place to go is the National Park. It is gorgeous and you can swim with the dolphins there.

Cozumel is beautiful, especially if you like diving. Definitely check the iberostar resort there.

I love Cozumel, inexpensive and great beaches. You can also visit Cancun on a day trip.

we stayed at the cozumeleno - it was OK. too many families- not really for couples. the downtown is all cruise ships so its pretty lively. lots of jewelry stores.
i didnt really love cozumel that much but that is due to our resort being a little too family oriented.
next time i go ill go in march/april (instead of february) and id stay at a hotel geared towards couples.

We honeymooned there last year and stayed at El Cozumeleno too. We loved it. We must have hit a good time to go because there weren't that many children there. There were a lot of honeymooners. This was early May. The food was pretty good. The island itself was gorgeous! I guess it depends on what you're into.

Thank you to everyone who posted. We were thinking of going the end of August (our 1year anniversary is in July). My husband is now scuba certified so he wants to go scuba diving and I heard Cozumel is beautiful for that and also inexpensive. I'm just confused on where to stay. I did a search online but they talk about the north end and the south end?? I aslo wanted something close to the ferry so we can go over to Cancun for a day. Thanks Lisa

I've heard that it was gorgous! I hope to go there myself, seems more laid back, less congested than Cancun.
