I have to know how many CPs I need for my reception, however, how do I know how many tables I will have so far in advanced? I'll be having around 175 guests and my hall says they seat no more than 12 per table. I havent made a seatign chart yet, so how the heck am I suppose to know how many tables I will have??

Re: CP question -- how do you know how many
who's asking? the florist?
just give a rough estimate of 15 and when you finalize the seating chart you can call them and tell them exactly how many you need.

No, we're actually making silk CPs ourselves. Where the problem comes in is that the flowers are from AC Moore -- they only carry their spring flowers thru the end of April, so we have to be sure we have the correct # of flowers for each centerpiece waaay before the wedding or else we wont be able to get more. It seems to be almost impossible to estimate the # of tables that far in advanced tho.

if you buy enough for 15 tables but then end up with excess later, can you just return what you didnt use?

We're purchasing all the flowers we love form AC Moore and then they actually put them together for you for free. We had them do a sample one for us and it came out fabulous -- much nicer than the sample our florist had done for us. So, we stuck with real flowers for all the b-oks and bouts, but decided to let AC Moore do all our CP's. Its saving us HUNDREDS of dollars. I highly recommend looking into it.

i say stick to the 15 # and then if it turns out you had too many then at least you have a keepsake.

Good idea. Do you think 15 is enough for 175 ppl tho? I have no idea what the norm is.

i would say yea, but just to be on the safe side order 16....cause 175 divided by 12 per table is about 15.

Re: CP question -- how do you know how many
I think you might want to make extra. Or at least go through your list and try to work it out. We could fit 12 at a table but wound up with some tables of 8 and 10. That's just how it worked out with fitting the right people together- DH's parents are divorced so we couldn't put any of their families together. Then we had work and school friends for both of us so we had more tables than just the number of people divided by 12. Does that make sense?

Re: CP question -- how do you know how many
well your supposed to calculate how many people you have and how many guests are at one table
for example im having 300 ppl at my wedding and 10 persons to a table= 30 centerpieces
175 divided in to 15 is ..11.6 lol so i'd have 12 centerpieces if i were you than!
i dont know what the 'norm' is...my hall suggested to get a round table instead of an oval because it would look better etc..

Yes that makes perfect sense. I figured that would happen since I'm most likely not going to sit exactly 12 per table -- its all going to depend on who we sit with who. So, I guesss theres no easy way around this....I'm going to have to sit here and go thru my guest list and try to figure out who we would seat together to get a better estimate of how many we would put at each table. Ughhhh Thank you for your help!
