Cradle caps help

Cradle caps help

My little Emma has a pretty bad case of cradle caps. What makes it worse is that she has a full head of hair so instead of hiding it like you think the hair would, the flakes are sticking to her locks and it looks horrible. Does anyone know what causes this and how do I treat it without making her uncomfortable?

Hi cuz - I think I read somewhere you can rub olive oil on the area and brush it to try to flake off the skin.

I am sure she is still cute.

Re: Cradle caps help

what I have been told and what I have done:
just before giving her a bath put some baby oil in your hands rub them and then run through her hair. Make sure it is enough to get her scalp saturated.
Then, maybe 1.2 hour later, run her bath and wash her hair.
use the baby hair brush when you are lathering up her head and give it a good scrub.

a few of these session should clear it up

Mia had the same thing, this is what I did, when I washed her hair, I used my nails and gave her a good scrub on her scalp (this won't hurt her in fact I think she liked it) after the bath use a baby comb and a drop of baby oil and comb the flakes out...it works!

Do this every few days and if you bathe her everyday be careful not to dry out her skin, I did that! I was giving her baths every night and the poor kid was sooo dry...the doctor said as long as the diaper area is clean there is no need to give them baths everyday.

Rebecca was starting to get a LITTLE bit of it, and I did proceed to bathe her every night (which I still do). I use Johnson's Head-to-Toe on her entire body and hair, and in order to get rid of the cradle cap, I gently 'rubbed' her scalp with the soap in those areas, and sometimes I used a baby washcloth to 'rub' even more - but VERY gently. Then, I made sure to brush her hair several times a day. It went away completely within a few days and never came back. Good luck!
