Anyway... Nicky has a mild case, and I treat it by massaging his scalp with olive oil or Aquaphor. It works, but washing either one out of his hair is a nightmare. Is there anything I can use that won't be a b*tch to wash out??

Re: Cradle Rot
I have a friend who always called it Cradle Crud.
Isn't there something you can buy that's not so oily and it comes with a little comb? I thought I saw it in the BRU once but Lukie never had it so I'm not 100% sure if that's what it was.

Re: Cradle Rot
Are you using a baby comb to comb it out? My sister always took care of JA's for me, I felt like Id be hurting him, and was too nervous to do it. But she used lotion or oil (not sure) and a baby comb... and alot of combing out. His head would get a little red, but it did the trick...

Re: Cradle Rot
What about regular vaseline intensive care, I have seen that used before and the fine tooth baby comb as well. It is also easy to wash out. A lot of babies get it

I do use the comb, and it does go away... it just keeps coming back! Anna, I know what you mean about feeling like you're hurting him. The funny part is, while I feel like I'm combing his scalp raw, he gets very relaxed, and closes his eyes!!
I'll look into the BRU stuff and the Vaseline Intensive Care... thanks for the advice ladies!

Re: Cradle Rot
HOW ADORABLE, closes his eyes!!!!!! He's probably like 'AHHHH That feels GOOODDDD' Kinda like a little massage!
They learn what they need to do to get something done. When we were giving JA eye drops a few months ago, he got so used to it, that he'd open his eyes WIDE and kinda cringe but still layed still so I can get it done... Kinda what we do when we get our eyebrows done 'ok, I DONT like this, but lets get it over with'

If I could get Luke to do this with diaper changes, I'd be a very happy Mommy. He's especially a bear about diaper changes with the big ole poopy ones.

Re: Cradle Rot
I was told just to comb it out & not to use any oils or vaseline. Patrick had it bad!!!

Re: Cradle Rot
Liz, Id love to see one child that stays still for diaper changes Now that my reactions are not as quick, there are times when John Anthony runs off, bare butt and all, in the midst of a diaper change I usually make sure I at least wiped all the poop before he can even try to escape! and my prerequisite for diaper changes is to hand him something that will amuse him or entertain him. and it has to be something new or different... oh the fun of being a mommy

Re: Cradle Rot
I found a product when searching for acne cures. It's I think called Gentle Naturals Cradle Cap Treatment. I haven't used it, but it might be worth the try- they have it at CVS.

Re: Cradle Rot
I used the Gerber Cradle Cap kit. It was recommended to me on another board. It worked really well. It comes with a gel, a comb, shampoo and a lotion. Within a day her cradle cap was almost gone. It was totally gone within a week. The gel was not difficult to wash out and it smelled really good.
