Anyone ever try to sell something on craigslist? Any positive or negative things about it?

Re: Craigslist?
I've never bought or sold on there b/c I know they have a lot of problems with scams...
I tend to stick with Amazon... Ebay is generally good too, but I've actually had my paypal account stolen on there and am in a legal battle with them now over it because the person ran up a debt and they're trying to send me to collections for it but won't tell me what was bought or where it was sent...
Amazon is definitely the best...

Re: Craigslist?
Ah! Thanks for letting me know. Reason I ask is cause we're planning on selling our truck and alot of people are telling us to put it on Craigslist. I thought of putting an ad in newsday but people say i would have more luck with craigslist

Re: Craigslist?
I like craigs list, just watch out for scams, try it, it's free you have nothing to loose. And it you are leary about the buyer, just tell them it is sold already! GL!

Re: Craigslist?
Hmmm, idk, a truck is way different than the knid of stuff I was thinking of. We use cragslist all the time right now to apartment hunt... maybe it's good for that? You don't have to enter any personal info right? So I don't see how it could hurt.
Haha, def can't sell that on amazon
They do sell cars on Ebay tho!

Re: Craigslist?
Def. use Craigslist, I work in a junk yard and we resell cars on that site all the time. You put an add if the person is interested he lets you know and comes down to see the car ..You list price they accept get cash or a certified check. If you feel weirded out by the person just say its sold. People using craigslist are usually local people looking to buy. ITs great Good luck

Re: Craigslist?
i have. i like it. you don't have to pay anything for listing the ad. i had customers contact me via e-mail, i didn't give my phone number, i think it is saver that way. also people on this site bit down the price so don't expect to get the total amount when they contact you. also make sure you have another person with you when the customer comes to your house.

Re: Craigslist?
we have a couple of times, and my sister is addicted to it. she buys and sells on it all the time. you just have to be careful about how you give out your information and set up meeting times/places.

Re: Craigslist?
I sold all the furniture in my old apartment on Craig's List and bought a few things for the new place off of it.
I really like it--posting your stuff is free and you don't even need to give out any contact info (Craig's list has posts a dummy email address that routes the email through the site so the seller doesn't know your email address).
As always, there's creeps and weirdos on the internet, so make sure that you have someone with you when a seller comes to check out the truck. That's the same thing you should do if you put the ad in the paper, though.

I never sold anything but I found a job and my friend found an apartment. We both loved it!

Re: Craigslist?
A big problem with craigslist is there is no seller feedback. Ebay is alot better because of the seller feedback- more people will buy if they can see some feedback for the seller and they know they are less likely to get scammed.

Re: Craigslist?
I tried to sell a couch on craigslist when I moved out of the city, but I never got any responses even after I kept lowering the price.

Re: Craigslist?
I have sold several items via craigs list!
Ok just dont have them come to your house!
Also I listed my car in newsday and craigslist...honestly I got more hits from newsday. I did a two week ad for like $75. Also many people have come to look but no buyers. It is a tough market out there...good luck!

I sold a few things on craiglist and it was perfect and this past weekend FH and I bought something and it was amazing, i couldn't have asked for better sellers...i am hesitant at times about meeting or buying certain things but this was a fantastic experience we just had.

Re: Craigslist?
I tried selling my ring pillow on craigslist but I only got one response and they only keep your ad up for 7 days.
