I have ALWAYS had killer cramps. I was on birth control (which made things better) due to some complications, I had to stop taking them. I was in bed today for 4 hours they were so bad. I feel like nothing helps (tylenol, heating pads, tea, elevated legs tried them all) Anyone have any other ideas!!!?? I'm loosing it.

Re: CRAMPS
When I knew they were coming on I would pre-empt with tylenol.
Basically its much harder to stop once they atrat. Just keep on top of it ...or ahead of it. That should help a little.

Re: CRAMPS
Have you tried Midol Extended Relief? That's really the only thing that works for me.
I take it as soon as my period starts, that way the cramps never even have a chance to come. (I don't get cramps until the end of the first day, so I get 'em before they start)

Re: CRAMPS
I have bad cramps as well. To help with it I am prescribed Naproxen by my doctor. One pill does the trick and I am back to doing things as usual. Without my magic pill, there would be no work for me as I would be throwing up and rolling around in the bed.

Re: CRAMPS
I used to get the most ridiculous cramps... I would have to call in sick to work, I couldn't leave the house and needed to be near the bathroom ALWAYS. It was horrible. I tried Orthotricyclene and Orthotricyclene-lo but both made me sick to my stomach, gave me headaches and made me dizzy. So my OBGYN suggested Nuva-ring and after some resistance on my part I LOVE IT! No more cramps, no more nausea... it was weird at first but now it's no big deal.

I am in the same situation, and I cant be on the pill for other medical reasons – let me know if you find anything that works, I take 3 Motrin every 4 hours! So annoying!

Re: CRAMPS
Just some food for thought, but did you ever call your gyno and get bloodwork done/tests to see if you have endometriosis? That causes really bad cramping, like the kind you describe. Don't want to upset you or suggest you have something you don't...but it might be worth looking into...if only to give you relief from those cramps. Your gyno can treat that and it usually goes away completely when you have a baby.
talk to your doctor about a prescription for naproxen - its like a higher form ibuprofen and works great

Re: CRAMPS
A friends brother is a pharmascist and he suggested taking an advil and a tylenol together, apparently the mixture of the two is supposed to be great for cramps. Other then that i always try to stay away from caffeine thats supposed to help as well!
