Cranky about BM gift

Cranky about BM gift

So, my original plan was to have a friend of mine make my girls their DOJ. She was a fellow LIW bride and got married 10/07. I already knew that my MOH prob would never wear the jewelry after the wedding b/c she only wears gold and the jewelry would be crystal/silver. Now, another of my BMs saw a pic of what the jewelry would look like and told me honestly that SHE would never wear it again after the wedding, either! I am so frustrated! I mean, I really don't want to spend all that money to have them wear it once, you know? So now I think I am just saying they can all choose their own darn jewelry and I'll get them something else. GRR! It just pisses me off b/c who would tell someone what to give them as a gift??? I just think its ballsy.

Ok, I needed to vent - thank you, I am done now LOL!

For her just saying that, you should still give them the Jewelry...shes probably a blunt person, who didnt know any better...dont worry about it...the 2 weddings i have been in, the brides gave us jewelry. If its really bothering you, you can just ask if she has any suggestions...good luck!!

I'm am getting my BP their DOJ as a gift...if they like it great...if not, OH WELL!!! I'm also getting them a little something else which I know they will love. But honestly, if you want them all to match with jewlery give it to them as a gift. I think it's rude for your BP to make any comments to you. I was in a BP where I got the DOJ and personally I hated it, but I smiled and said thank you, wore it on the day for the bride and put it in my jewlery box in hopes I can wear it for Halloween one year!

I just don't want to spend the money on that when I can spend it on something else they will all love (I am thinking of gift certificates to a spa or a massage). If they all already have jewelry they can wear then fine. It just annoyed me that she commented at all when I was getting her a gift, you know? Oh well - I am over it :) Thanks, girls!

Aw I'm sorry that she said that. I guess she just wanted to be honest? I am getting jewlelry for two weddings that I am in and I think it is a good idea, then I don't have to worry about getting my own! I think a lot of times the brides expect the girls not to wear it again, so maybe that is why she commented. My friends told me I would probably never wear it again but I actually think I might lol.

honestly i would apprectiate them being honest. i wouldnt want to spend all that money on jewelry to find out later that they never wore it again, didnt like it or etc... its not a gift if they will never use it

but i understand why you are upset

It is rude for someone to say that. In all the weddings I have been in, all the gifts I received I have never used. I received jewelery and wore it for the wedding and that was it. It's not my taste. Think of it as a blessing in disguise. I am going to get my BMs all gifts that suit their personal styles. I want them to be able to use it again after the wedding.

Did she know you were intending to give that as a gift?

Knowing how they feel about it, maybe you should ask them to buy the DOJ and find something else?
just a thought.
