Crate and Barrel vs Pottery Barn Furniture

We're in the market for a coffee table...my dumpster-dive, coffee table is about to crumble.

We've found a few tables at C&B and PB that we like - wood tables in the $200-400 range (we're still renting and while we don't necessarily want throw away furniture, we don't want to spend a whole lot since we're saving for our wedding & a house).

Anyone buy furniture from either place? Opinions/thoughts on quality?

Re: Crate and Barrel vs Pottery Barn Furniture

I have a coffee table from Pottery Barn and its very well made. The thing is HEAVY and SOLID as can be - so much so that I need help moving it around.

I cant speak to the ones at Crate and Barrell as a comparison though.

Re: Crate and Barrel vs Pottery Barn Furniture

I've bought furniture from both stores and I've had far better luck with Pottery Barn.

Re: Crate and Barrel vs Pottery Barn Furniture

I recently bought furniture from C&B and have no issues with the furniture...The stuff is very well made esp. the stuff from the furniture store (not the stuff from the housewares store). I have bought bookshelves, a side/end table and a bar. I like it all alot. I had a small issue with the bar being on back order - over a month and half longer than they originally told me. But it was great quality.

I bought a table from Pottery Barn and loved it (sofa table). The quality was fine but I did have a problem with them - in that the peices they sold as a set didn't match in wood color. I had to return eveything (after putting some pieces together and it was a pain to return and get my money back.)

Re: Crate and Barrel vs Pottery Barn Furniture

I've bought couches and a loveseat from C&B and were very happy with their quality. They were on the expensive side though... But they are very durable and easy to care for.

I've never bought from PB so I can't comment there. But I do love their stuff!!

Re: Crate and Barrel vs Pottery Barn Furniture

C&B is so much nicer. I have a bedframe, night tables, and a bureau from PB. I am really not happy with them. However, I have a beautiful bookcase with glass doors, a bench, a buffet, and two huge prints from C&B. C&B is better furniture.
