create a cake

has anyone ever used them? I was thinking of getting my cake from them.
If so, how did it taste and can you post a pic!?

(i've heard really good things from them, and a few it was stale feedbacks.)

hey amanda!

I actually used them for my Sweet 16 cake. they did a great job and the cake was really good. of course that was almost 10 years ago and it wasnt a wedding cake.

but I would recommend them based on my experience!

Thanks Kathryn! I hear mostly good things but I have heard twice that they felt that the cake could have been fresher, which makes me nervous!

I believe it is create a cake.

NY031978, I am glad to hear that you've liked them! I am a big fan of their rainbow cake! But I wasnt sure about their wedding cakes.

well we didnt use them for a wedding cake...but my friend used them for her wedding and it was very good. I have used them for birthdays and when we had my daughters Christening party at the meadow club thats who they used and it was Awesome!!!!

Which one because if you are talking about the one in Port Jeff. They did my shower cake see my album while the cake was nice the taste of the icing was not. you could taste the dye in the icing but I was told because of the color that happens so Im not sure.

Also went back to do my wedding cake there because it was a vendor for my hall and was free. They wanted to charge me extra for a square cake which made no sense to me. Considered it an upgrade. So I then went to the rolling pin in Setuaket who was also a vendor for my hall they did the square cake for me with no problem at no extra charge and the cake was soooo yummy.

But if we are talking about the same place I have heard mix things about them.

I used them, also for my RD cake for DH. Both were top notch. The cake I made sure I ate, ate it standing, but I got to eat it!

I am talking about the create a cake in port jeff on 25A... they are actually the baker for Tall Grass. (I get the cake free through them) but am nervous about it because of the mixed reviews!

so i guess I should stick to icing w/o die huh? I know the taste that you mean!

i used them for my wedding and they screwed my cake up really bad!! i even gave them a pic of what i wanted i met with them so many times and called to make sure they had all the right info and they still screwed up me cake! ill never use them again! JMO

Personally I wouldn't go with them. I think I even heard a rumor that they used boxed cake mix. I would go with Rolling Pin.

Before we chose our Hall (who uses Rolling Pin--A+++++++++++ btw), we got a buttercream cake from Create a Cake, and we thought it was good. Cake was a tad dry, but over all it was good.

If you have the ability to go to Rolling Pin, I really can't recommend them enough. They were great to work with (even for me being an OOT bride), and the cake was so beautiful and tasted soooooo good.

I had my wedding at Tall Grass Country Club over the summer and we used Create a Cake in in Port Jefferson. I thought that the cake was wonderful (best wedding cake that i have ever tasted actually) and our guests raved about the cake.. they also designed it almost exactly how i had wanted it.. definitely go for a cake taste test. we did and the cake we ordered and had at the wedding tasted exactly the same as when we did the tasting! good luck!
