Creative Ways to ask your bridal party?!

Hi,

I'm trying to think of a fun, creative, and shocking way for my fiance and I to ask/announce our bridal during our engagement party. I was originally thinking of pretending we were going to play some sort of game and pretending to be pulling up 'random' people to play. Then having some sort of announcement that they were in our bridal party? I don't know!!! Any IDEAS!!!!!!

I had shot glasses made up from etsy for our bridal party of dresses and tuxes with their title on each one and I asked everyone to take a shot with me and FH. Once they did, I told them to look at the glass. They all loved it.

i found it on pinterest so i cant take credit, but i did ring pops in little boxes and when they opened the box i had written:

'now it's my turn to pop the question..will you be my bridesmaid?'

they were really cute

I have such a fun idea but idk how to execute it lol I want to have my bridal party do a scavenger hunt that leads them all to the same restaurant where we would be waiting for them. but all the things e they would pick up would have them figure out we were asking them.
I also. found this super funny card on pintrest I wad thinking of make and give to my bridesmaids. let me see if I can figure out how to add it here!

this is going to sound terrible lol, but are you 100% sure that every member you plan on asking will definitely say yes? Sounds stupid, but my sister had one of her friends actually say no because she just moved across the country and wasn't financially able to fly back and forth for the bachelorette, shower, and wedding. She felt that she wouldn't be able to do the duties and would rather just come as a guest.... just wanted to throw it out there incase someone feels they are put on the spot at your e-party! haha

I gave the girls a poem asking them on a double frame with a picture of me & the person..and the guys we made a help wanted sign with a small bottle of liquor..pics are in my album

I love the scavenger hunt idea. I kinds feel the same as @cets1290 but for a different reason. Will there be anyone else at the engagement party that would be hurt that they weren't asked to be in the bridal party? I could've had a bridal party of 100 (exaggerating obviously) but had to draw the line somewhere and even though I asked my bridal party privately some other friends/family were a little upset they weren't invited to be in the bridal party. Hurt/upset could be a strong word, but they were definitely a little bummed although they understood why once they knew my reasoning for it.

Maybe do something just prior to the engagement party so you can still honor them as your bridal party at the party but have a private moment with them. I went to dinner with each girl and gave them a bag with a Couture lollipop in it in my wedding colors and a sticker on the bag said - Now it's my turn to pop the question. Then I made really cute cards with a poem that ended in asking them to be my bridesmaid. It wasn't extravagant, but they were all so surprised and happy by it.

One more word of advice, I'd wait until the last possible minute to ask them. I received this advice and waited probably until a month before I needed to get dresses to ask them and I would still have done it differently if I knew what I knew now. People change so much when it comes to weddings for some reason. And my best friend who was a bridesmaid is now not only not a bridesmaid anymore, but also not a friend anymore. And this happened with one month to go to my wedding. Sad, but weddings are joyous occasions that also sometimes bring out the worst in people. :(

Amen!!! I had 3 people say no to me. It was a eye opener because I thought we were close.

Thank you all for your advice! You all gave me a different perspective of surprising them. I think i may go with the more one on one approach before the party. If all goes well and all accept, I may put together a litte 'meet the maids/ Meet the men'

yea my scavenger hunt idea got tossed when we realized we wouldn't be asking everyone coming. for example he's asking his cousin to be on the bridal party although I'm close with his gf I'm not askng her. but if we did the hunt she would be there! I know her she wouldn't mind she would still have fun but my moh and her bf have been on the rocks lately, my fh and her bf have a major bromance that he would expect to be asked and we are too afraid they will break up before strong do he's not gonna ask him so that would really REALLY upset him so we r gonna ask private as well.
