Does anyone belong to a credit union? I've been looking into a few (by way of suggestion) and thought to see if anyone has had good experiences with one.

I belong to Federal Credit Union there are a couple on Li and in the city and they are great!

I belong to MCU in NYC. It's good. There are only a couple of branches though, so that can be a pain.

I belong to Nassau Federal Credit Union and they are awesome!! They even call us when a big purchase is made on our debit card to see if the purchase went well.. All in hopes that we made the purchase.. Highly recommended!!

I used to work for Bethpage Federal Credit Union and Nassau Educators Federal Credit union and have accounts at both.. the rates on loans and savings accounts are better than banks.. there's no fee checking that gives you dividends at the end of each month.. I will never be part of a bank..

FH belongs to Suffolk Federal Credit Union and likes it. The only problem is we live in Westchester, so everytime he wants to avoid an ATM fee, we have to drive to LI! I'd just suggest making sure the CU has enough branches/ATMs near where you live.

I switched to credit unions about 7 years ago. I love it. The service is great, the fees arent painfull, good rates, etc. Depends on where you live, but i use SFCU. Teachers Fed is great too i hear. Good Luck Shopping

FMIL belongs to Pentagon Federal CU and she loves them, they gave her a good rate on her equity loan.

I belong to MCU [Municipal Credit Union] which is for all NYC workers- and it is ghetto!! Long lines, hardly any branches, screw ups with their computer systems...you name it! BUT, my direct deposit is posted about two days before people with other banks, so that is the benefit for me!! I like getting my paycheck early!! I hear that the Teacher's CU are really good. Two of my BMs are teachers in Nassau and don't have bad things to say about it! HTH!

I belong to two, actually: Navy Federal and Senate Federal. Both are great, the rates can't be beaten, and the service is so much better than anything I ever got out of a national bank.

i belong to tfcu as well. and i have to say that any other bank account is a dissapointment. i'm not used to all these fees!

What is the most important thing to look at when searching for a credit union? It seems that you're looking for the best rates, but does the size of the CU matter as well... I'm so confused...
