Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

I am pretty partial to Leonard's but if I were you I would pick the hall that fits better with your schedule... I mean we picked this hall partly because it was not too far into Long Island since we live in Brooklyn and are having the ceremony in Brooklyn.... and yes the food is amazing

I would recommend Crest Hollow. Haven't been to both, they really don't compare to each other in terms of service. Plus, Crest Hollow is just nicer and bigger and you can't beat the cocktail hour by the pool!

you're pretty rude, if you haven't noticed many of us are having our weddings at Leonards, and for your information I was at a wedding there recently and the service was OUTSTANDING. The cocktail hour was amazing.

Um, if you haven't been to both, how do you know if they compare or not?

Thank you, if people want t talk from experience then comment away but if you haven't been to either you really have no right to make such statements.

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

Obviously I am a bit biased to Leonards. However, I can offer some sound and factual advice, as I actually have been to both places.

My DH and I went to 15 or so halls, before we finally chose Leonards. Initially, my DH's favorite was CH, until we went to Leonards. The service was fantastic and they treated us like family. I was so worried that at Leonard's I would hear other weddings and see other people, that just didn't happen. The only time I saw another party was during my CH they brought us up to look at our ballroom, on the way down I saw another bride taking pics. They staggered the parties perfectly. We were on the top floor and not only didn't see any other parties, but we didn't hear them or bump into them on the way to the bathrooms.

Now my experience at CH was totally different. Granted the wedding itself was there, so we started upstairs for the ceremony, down for the cocktail hour, and back up for the reception. During that time we kept bumping into other weddings. At one time the music from another party was so loud, I thought I was in their room. Plus the bathrooms (at least the ladies) was downstairs from the reception room, so I constantly saw other parties/weddings.

As for the food, honestly no comparison. Leonards blew me and my guests away! My wedding was over 1/2 italian and they just new how to do it. People still comment on the food at our CH, absolutely amazing.

Honestly, although in the beginning I was worried about having our wedding at Leonard's it was one of the best decisions. We had 0 problems with them and they turned out to be a fantastic vendor. The service the day of our wedding was extraordinary, they were constantly there for anything we needed.

Well, I'm sure she didn't mean it rudely. Maybe it's a typo and she has been to both. I dont know. CHCC is amazingly beautiful and it is bigger. But I cannot speak on the service there.

Wow, I had no idea I was being attacked!

Anyway, the typo was obvious...I meant to type 'having been to both'...and no, they don't compare to each other. Leonard's is beautiful but definitely a lot flashier than Crest Hollow and in terms of decor it's just more 'rich'.
I was actually booked at Leonard's so I obviously liked it enough, unfortunately (or fortunately) something 'atypical' happened and I was able to book elsewhere.
In any case, that is my opinion...never meant to be rude, but I guess that's not everyone's MO.
It wasn't a personal attack against Leonard's brides...I wasn't even aware that I wouldn't be able to type my opinion.

ETA: I posted this while CubanBride was typing hers so I didn't get to read it before hand...I guess it's nice to see that not everyone jumps to conclusions. Still, really and truly, I didn't bash any place and I think it's rude to assume...but whatever, right?!

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

Oh, I wanted to add one thing about the gardens. We took a bunch of pictures outside and they were beautiful. Originally, we had planned to go to a park, but the sun was setting quicker then we had thought so we went straight there after the chruch. The flowers they have are exquisite and almost tropical. We took pictures in front by the fountain and on the side by the stairs. They also have an additional garden type area for pictures, we just ran out of light.

I'm letting this one go...but to talk about what people have the 'right' to do...come on, that's a stretch!
Again, NOT a personal attack against you, your wedding or your hall...no idea where this came from.

Hmmm, it's sort of true. CH and Leonard's have 2 completely different styles. I think the latter may be a bit on the darker side. I think CH may be a bit more classic. I am hoping that a CHCC bride invutes me to her wedidng so I can get a full taste of the place.

And the pool is to die for. *sigh*

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

Crest Hollow - hands down. I am first generation italian, and i have been to a few weddings at Leonards and many weddings at Crest Hollow. The food is 10x better at Crest Hollow and cleaner to, just look at the rugs in Leonards. They need to renovate a little.

I would have to agree. I have over 1200 proofs and in ALL of the ones from Leonard's (in addition to all of the photos from family and friends) the hall looks impeccable.

And, all of our Italian (who live in Italy) relatives raved about the food at my wedding, over and over again. Not only did they love the food, but so did everyone else.

One of the wonderful things that Leonard's does is give both the bride and the groom 1 of EACH entree that is being served to the guests. They take the plates right off of the regular serving platters, so the bride and groom can see and taste for themselves exactly what the guests are being served.

My Leonard's wedding was everything I could have hoped for plus more! Anyone having their wedding at Leonard's does not have ANYTHING to worry about!

if anyone has any questions, feel free to FM me!

Re: Crest Hollow VS. Leonards of Great Neck

Wow! I had no idea Leonard's would provide one of EACH entree to both me and FH... Here I was wondering what I would choose that night!

I will talk to my photographers about the Garden City Gazebo and find out if they have taken pictures there before.

Thanks for your comments.
