Crinoline or Hoops- that is the question.
The store I bought my dress in gave me a choice of crinoline or a 4 tier hoop to wear underneath (this has four hoops going smaller on top to larger on the bottom and really poofs out the dress). I tried both on and the 4 tiered hoop gave it a puffier look (necessary for my ball gown). The crinoline didn't make it nearly as poofy, plus, the woman said that after a few hours, the crinoline can start to droop. So, I went with the hoops. Now, a few things are bothering me and I was looking for some advice-1- How the hell do you sit in those things? I tried it on with my dress at my fitting and the whole dress pops up when you sit.
2- When I get lifted up on the chair (the hora), I am worried that everyone will get, shall we say-
a favor that I don't really want to give my guests (if you know what I mean)
Anyone have any words of wisdom? I really like the poofyness of the hoop slip and would rather have that than the crinoline- am I just being paranoid? Is anyone else using the hoop slip under their dress?

Sorry Tara
Don;t have any ideas for you becasue I chose the crinoline. I didn't want to have to deal with the hoop popping up or me being spastic and tripping

I decided to go with the hoop but I am only getting 1 or 2 hoops. I liked the way it not only poofed out the dress but you dont have itchy crinoline on you. I sat down at the shop and it was fine. My BM even pretended to do a garter to make sure it didnt fly up. I would try it on and see how you feel. If you have a hard time sitting, I am almost positve you can take out 1 or 2 of the top hoops. That is were most of the 'sitting problems' are. Hope this helps

When do you make this decision, at the first fitting? I never even thought of this before ahhhhh! I think the hoops may get uncomfortable, but I have never tried it on.

no acutally, they are not annoying. They push away from your body so they don't even touch your legs. Think of it this way- A giant hoola hoop on the bottom a slightly smaller one above, etc., etc. The hoops are sewn into a slip so they lay right under the skirt of your dress and don't even touch your legs.

I was so against the hoop, but then the bridal shop insisted that I try it on. Well, it is weird, but it keeps the dress off of my legs, so I don't have to worry about it sticking to me. Also, it gives my gown that wedding dress look. It's not a hard as a hula hoop, but it's the same idea. I'm only having one hoop all the way at the bottom of the dress. I also sat down in it with my temporary bustle, and it didn't stick up. I was worried about that too. Good luck!

I'm wearing 4 hoops and my hoops don't pop up at all when I sit.Maybe the weight of my dress is keeping it down?
