Why is it that everywhere I turn, when I tell 'supposed' friends that Pete and I will ttc about 6 months after the wedding - what do they tell me no you should wait, have fun with your husband, know him before you bring the strain of kids on yourselves......
aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhh.... if i wanted your comments i would've asked people! all it was was a statement, and a very happy, and proud one at that!

I hear you. We would hope that at least family & friends would be excited when we have great news or came to make an exciting decision like you & DH have. I find that alot of times people give 'advice' without taking into account what you might really want, just what they think you should do. Try to let it roll off your back and you will come to find it more humorous than anything. You'll start to count how many times people have that type of response and you & DH can have a laugh. And don't forget, it's what you & DH want that is what matters anyway.

I have a 3 1/2 month old son and everywhere I go, be it family, friends or total strangers, everyone seems to say 'He's so cute. Enjoy him now. Because when he's X age you'll have X problem' People act like it's all downhill after 6 months. I swear! I was talking with a stranger at the pediatrician's office and her kid was 6 months old and she was telling me to enjoy my kid who was only 3 months younger.

It's terrible that people stink so badly. I think that regardless of what time period Pete & I choose to wait.... we'll learn all about each other nevertheless.... Am I right or wrong?

People will always add their 2 cents, whether you like it or not! With wedding planning as well, I quickly learned to keep many decisions to myself, or only share with a few people. DH and I are casually TTC, but we haven't told anyone - I don't want any comments, since we've only been married for 3 months!

You're better off keeping quiet. Once anyone knows they truly think it's their business. I occaisionally get comments (from one of the few people I trusted with the info at work) such as 'Are you ovulating this week?' WHAT?! Geez, if I want you to know I'll tell you...

Lpn... just another idea as to why ppl feel the need to talk other ppl out of doing things they want to do..

I think a lot of people try to share their words of wisdom, because thruth be told having a baby is a lot of work. Many people think that a marriage needs to go thru the first year or two, so that the couple can adjust to just being a couple and living together before adding a child. But in the end you and your husband are the ONLY ones who can decide if and when you are ready to become parents. If that is what you want, then good luck TTC. Make sure you take your Folic Acid.

Some people can be SOOO ANNOYING ! Good luck TTC and its only YOUR business ! You shouldnt even tell any more people because now you'll hear 'oh, hows it going ?' and you'll have to report if you get your period too !
Ive heard the wait a few more years ! But thats not my choice, thank you very much ! People will give their opinion no matter what.
Oh and on the baby names too. UGh, keep that secret if you can (its very hard!) but you will definately get faces and opinions at any name you choose. Let it be your choice and DH's !
