Criticism.....

Re: Criticism.....

I think you're better off not telling anyone anything.
If they ask when you are planning on having children, just tell them not right now.

Re: Criticism.....

Hey ANNA, about the baby names, that is so true!!!! My hubby picked an amazing boy's name (amazing to us and that's all that counts) and was so excited to tell his Mom and wow what a chilly reception that was, and made a negative comment!

I told him not to tell anyone and he learned his lesson.

SOME PEOPLE!

Re: Criticism.....

I agree with one comment that someone made - only YOU and your DH will know when you are ready to become parents...also, keep in mind that everyone has different definitions of 'ready,' so you are bound to hear the 'oh, you should wait comments, etc. Says who?? A good response to those people is, 'Excuse me, but when did this become YOUR life???' Try to avoid telling anyone your plans...it's nobody else's business.

Believe me, it's much better to share the wonderful news once you are actually pregnant, than to have to explain why you haven't become pregnant yet. I have seen two very close friends and important women in my life suffer through the agony of infertility, and have to explain their 'failures' month after month to family and friends was and is a *very* painful process.

Do yourself a favor and keep what goes on in your bedroom, within the walls of your bedroom! It sounds so horrible to have to keep an amazingly selfless and beautiful decision to yourself, but it will multiply a thousand-fold when the time is right!
Best wishes to you, and ***********BABY DUST*************BABY DUST************!!!!!

Re: Criticism.....

I forgot to give you baby dust too!! *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Do you have to be 'with child' to give dust???

shamma Posted:

Re: Criticism.....

You better not be, b/c all the dust I have given away would be all for naught I think any one can give dust tho'

Re: Criticism.....

That's a good question! Honestly, for some unknown reason, I have been under the [unspoken] assumption that only the women who are with child, or have had a child should extent the 'Baby Dust' blessing, since they have been proven to be fertile. I am not saying this should be a 'rule' here, but I just assumed that those TTC would want 'dust' from the most fertile among us.

There's really no logic for my theory, so please, don't take offense to my comments. I am sure everyone's wishes to extend 'dust' - fertile or not - is welcomed, accepted and appreciated by the women who are TTC as nothing but the warmest wish we can extend to one another.

Re: Criticism.....

Claud, that's true after 19 mos of TTC, I got dust from the women that got pregant before me...Hey Shamma, you got some kids around your not telling us about????

Edited: to add 'got'

Re: Criticism.....

So should unmarried or divorced women NOT wish brides a happy marriage?
I want all the dust I can get, from anyone who wishes to send it my way.

Re: Criticism.....

You see? I asked that no one take offense to my 'logic.' I don't think it's bad for anyone to extend the 'dust' wish to those TTC...I think I was more than clear about that.

Don't worry...you are wished *so much* baby dust that you will probably have a multiple birth!

Re: Criticism.....

i'm praying for either a or a or even a birth! I told my FMIL that as soon as I think I'm preggo that I'm gonna start jumping up and down for about 3 hrs to try and split the egg!!! She lost it - I don't think I've ever seen her laugh so hard!!!!!!

Re: Criticism.....

About criticism, we sent my MIL belly pics, and she wrote back and said I look 'much bigger than she expected for 4-5 months...are you sure it's not twins?'!!!

When I read the email out loud to DH he was so mad at his mom, he kept saying 'how stupid' it was to write that. I was a little offended too, but I guess it's kind of funny since I do feel that I look bigger than I should be.

Re: Criticism.....

Nina- I have seen you in person (twice now) and you look GREAT! You do not look like you are carrying twins at all. She is just not a very nice person.

Re: Criticism.....

If you tell people you will ttc right away, they say wait.
If you wait they ask when you will.
People have no class

i'll just shutup & those who have blessed me with a honeymoon baby... i'll discuss it with them!

Re: Criticism.....

Nina, I feel your pain! I am very petite, too and I carried normally during my pregnancy. But, b/c of my height, everyone went around saying that I was huge for how far along I was. It's nonsense!

But, really...when you think about it, a taller woman has a much easier time carrying around a baby...her torso is so much longer than a petite woman's torso...I kept telling everyone - I am not 'big' for 7 months, I am just shorter than you, so I don't have anyplace to 'hide' the baby.

Just ignore anyone that says anything negative. You don't need toxic personalities during such a joyful time in your life!

Re: Criticism.....

i think its great that you and hubby want to conceive.

who cares what other ppl think.

when the best man and matron (married to each other) told FI and I they were going TTC after the new year i was rushing out getting prices of baby stuff and ordering baby baskets. I am beyond excited that its official they are pregnant. I cant wait till the bundle of joy is here. I am ordering the biggest flower arrangement i can possibly find being sent to her house the day she returns home.

I wish more people were like that, to be happy for those who want to have a baby.

I think its wonderful and you'll see when you are pregnant those who made the comments there attitude will quickly change.
