Crock pots are smelly!!

I made my chili last night and came home to a house that smelled like several middle-aged men 3 days after the Superbowl!

Why didn't anyone mention that the odor of cooking something over very low heat for 8 - 10 hours would permeate my entire cozy habitat!!!!

I was just given one and have not used it yet - thanks for the tip. Only pleasingly aromatic things to be prepared in my slowcooker.

did you leave it sitting out overnight after it was done? I don't have this problem, as when it's cooled off, I put all leftovers away and soak the pot in soapy hot water

nope, stuck it all in in the morning, turned it on, went to work and came home to a smelly house

Are you insinuating, Shana, that I am anything less than a domestic goddess and would let a pot *gasp* sit over night???? (Seb would never allow it )

I agree. It is disgusting and being preggo and very sensitive to smells DOES not help.

So far I have hated and not been able to eat a thing that has been cooked in the damn crock pot.

My husband has made a chicken (blah) and spare ribs (gross)....

Maybe its my preggo tastebuds!'

I wanna return it and get my $25 back!
