We just painted our bedroom like a rust/brown/orange sponge/ragging color, and the baseboard is a neutral color to blend in with the room color. I wanted the crown molding to be stained the color of our bedroom, but now Im afraid that it will make the room look smaller or just not look right.
Should we stain it or paint it ???
I can post pics later

Re: Crown Molding.. To Paint or to Stain???
I went thru a similar question in my head when I was considering crown molding for my bedroom. I wanted to stain it or paint it a dark color. But then DH said what about the doors? (we have 2 closets, the master bath and the front door). Then if I painted the doors to match - there is still the front door to the room and then that wouldn't match any of the other rooms doors and I got all confused.
So would up just doing base and casement molding in the room and I am in the process of painting it all white.
let me know what you decide?

Re: Crown Molding.. To Paint or to Stain???
We ended up staining the crown molding in our office room. We had replaced the door and closet doors with 6-panel pine doors that we also stained an almond color, as well as the wainscoting and chair rail (both oak). So it all just seemed to make sense.

Deidre- I have to say, hubby's been pretty good these past 2 weeks. (I cant take credit) On top of helping me out alot, and taking care of JohnAnthony 24-7, he's been getting so much done around the house while he's off from work.
I'll post pics of the room tomorrow ladies

I think that crown moulding always looks better when it's a different color. Either stained, or if you want it painted, something that coordinates with the wall.
