Cruise question( I have a bet with Fh on this)

We are going on a cruise for our HM. I told FH that we have to smuggle alchol into our suitcase before we leave. He says that we can get alchol at the Bahamas and the cruise line will let you on with it. I told him that I don't think so. That they won't let you back on with a bottle. Am I right or is he?

ETA We don't feel like spending a gizillon dollars buying a bottle on the ship.

You won!! On our cruises - they take your alcohol and hold it for you until the last night. We smuggled all our own on and saved a TON of money on bar bills!!

actually - it depends on the cruise line. some are much more lenient than others with allowing alcohol on board.

are you flying somewhere? alcohol on the airplane is a big no-no. the x-rays will pick up that there is something liquid in your suitcases and will confiscate it. and alchohol is flammable, which is an even bigger no-no.

ETA: i see you are going to the bahamas. your best bet is to buy it when you get to the bahamas and smuggle it on at that point.

You might want to check with your cruise line before you declare a winner. DH and I went on a cruise with Celebrity about two years about and each person was allowed to bring a bottle or two of alcohol. We brought two bottles of wine with us and it was no problem. A lot of other people that went with us brought bottles of alcohol, too.

princess also allows you to bring wine and champagne on board - no questions asked.

If you already have your tickets and info packet from the cruise line, it should have an alcohol policy on their. If not, I would just call or check their website.

We took Royal Caribbean to Bermuda and were able to buy alcohol on the island and smuggle it back on to our room. We bought a bottle of wine, some beer and some Dark N Stormy (bermuda drink)....I guess it all depends.

I don't remember if we smuggled it, but I know we had a bottle of vodka in our room. The only time I ran inot a problem with it was getting on the plane to fly back to NY. They wouldn't let me take it because the bottle had been opened. Otherwise, you can fly with alcohol, I've done it many times.

I was on a celebrity cruise last August.... if you bought the booze overseas and planned on consuming it on the cruise, that was ok (If I remember correctly the ship stored it for you). If you bought it to take home with you or in the ship's duty free shop, it was taken from you when you reboarded or at the time of purchase and returned to you when you docked at your homeport.
