Cruising the Mediterranean
Has anyone ever? I think Joe and I will next summer with some of my family. Aboard Celebrity's Millenium... leaves from Barcelona and goes to three ports in Italy, one in France, 2 in Greece, 1 in Croatia, and leaves us back in Venice. It's a 12 night cruise.. and yes, with family!
We all get along very well, let's see if we will after that! Joe and I have never been to Europe and feel this will be a nice way to see alot of it.. and then will know where we will want to visit again. We have cruised plenty of times and love it so I am not afraid of that.. just wanna know if anyone has ever done it...

Re: Cruising the Mediterranean
We looked into something like this for our honeymoon...the one we wanted (that went to turkey) was cancelled after 9/11 so we changed our plans...but i just wanted to tell you it sounds awesome!I think its a great 'starter' trip to Europe and its got to be more relaxing that trapsing around city to city. The only bad thing is that you dont get to see much of anything on a cruise b/c time in each city is so limited so you dont get a real flavor of what the city is like ... but you can always go back if you want to see more.
So my point is that is sounds great! I dont know anyone who has gone on one but you should check www.epinions.com and well as www.cruisecritic.com to get some reviews.

Re: Cruising the Mediterranean
thanks! i'll def check out those sites. yeah.. since we have never been, we figure it's a good way to get a feeling for it... and see what country we like best? i know... it's so limiting when you know you only have a single day to decide if you rather tour the city, or beach it. thanks for the sites!

Re: Cruising the Mediterranean
We had a trip like that booked for our honeymoon...2 weeks...first class accomodations...balcony room...the works...then 9/11 happened and we decided to stay in the states. I do hope that we get to do it one day!! I have been to Europe twice now and both times was in the tour buses. its a great way to see Europe but very tiring!! That is why we decided to take the cruise...we could get off and do what we wanted to and not have to worry about the bus leaving....of course the boat does that too but alot less rushed!!Your trip sounds AWESOME!!! I think Harry and I should start looking into rebooking our trip!!
When are you going?

Re: Cruising the Mediterranean
my family has already booked and if all goes as planned, we are going 8/13 - 8/25 with them. since we only have a day in barcelona (day of arrival) we are going to go down on the 11th instead and stay for two nights. and then up on departure, we'll prob stay in venice for at least another day...
checking into reviews right now...

Re: Cruising the Mediterranean
very good move to spend a little time in barcelona...its such a great city...we stayed at the ritz...which was really affordable...considering its the ritz...and its in a great location...just a little walk from las ramblas (the main strip of shops)
also...there is a fantastic picasso museum there...I turned DH into a picasso fan from that museum
and there was the best tapas bar DH or I have ever eaten in...and he is from Spain...so you know its good!!!
