Ok so I'm not close with my mother at all because shes a nutcase but I am close with my dad and stepmother. My aunt and grandmother just screamed at me and my finace for an hour because I dont try to be her best friend. For any brides out there who are stressing to make your family happy. F*%K THEM!!! Its not worth it.

They shouldnt bully you like that. Do they know why you are not close with your mother? Its bad enough you and your mom have problems, they shouldnt call you and do this to you like its your fault. You poor thing. They shouldnt be putting you through this right now.

Oh, man. Sorry. Just because she's your mother doesn't mean you have anything other than that in common. Tell your aunt and grandmother that you respect your mom because she's your mother (even if you don't, it's good to say that to them) but you don't have to be friends or even love her. Period. Your mom had her chance, the entire time you were growing up. If you reject her now, she must know why, even if she doesn't want to admit it, even to herself. And why is not your other relatives' business, either.
Go ahead with your wedding planning, and ignore them. Good luck!

I understand. My mom is on me to send an invite to my sister who has disowned our whole family. I told her that my sister is the one who decided to disown us - it was NOT me. That seemed to shut her up for a little.

So sorry. Weddings make people act crazy sometimes. Continue with what you are doing. Don't let people tell you what to do and don't let them bring you down. I have a friend who HATES her mother and when she got married her mother was banned from attending. Her Grandmother stayed on her back about it until the day she died. You know what?...She does NOT REGRET a thing. Try and stay happy.

One thing my mom always said was, you cant please everybody, so try not to stress to much, trust me I have a problem not stressing. Its true though, someone will always be unhappy, and its not always in your control. This is your day, so Just Please YOURSELF!

I am in the same situation as you... (I am actually not inviting my biological mom & Stepfather) I have gotten some slack from her side of the family... It is a stressful time ~ but try NOT to let it bother u ~ If you ever want to FM me want to chat I am all ears!

I want to thank you all for the hugs and good thoughts. I still think its amazing that I get so much support from the beautiful brides on LIW. I'm not afraid to say whenever I do anything wedding related I cant wait to get home and tell you all about it. Sad I know....LOL
