Oh no!!! It'll be okay - he'll find it - maybe someone at work will find it and turn it in.

He is a transit cop... if he lost it in the subway its gone forever.

What do I do? Get a new one? It wont ever be the same... I cant believe after 2 months. Mine never leaves my finger, I thought he would treat his the same way.

Where exactly did he take it off...while working or at a locker?

If he doesn't find it in a week or two then maybe you should consider buying another. But you have to tell him that the rule is that whoever loses the ring first has to buy the other a piece of jewelry.

In all honesty - it's one of those things that happens. He's not the first person to lose their wedding ring and at the rate my FH goes - yours will not be the last. It's all brand new to be wearing a ring (we've had our e-rings for a lot longer) so it's not hard to see how it can happen - but I know I would be sad too.

dont be dissapointed in him. That will make it much worse since Im sure he feels badly about it anyway.

Regardless, its just a ring.
There are worse things that could happen but your could always get another ring. sure, the original has meaning, but id rather my fh lose his ring than to lose my fh

Awe! I'm so sorry to hear about his ring!! Was it at least insured, so you may recover some of the cost? I know it won't be the same ring, but at least you won't have to shell out more money as a newlywed.

My FH is NYPD also. He's already told me that he probably won't wear his ring at work. He doesn't wear jewelry anyway, so I'm not surprised or upset about it. Either he'll leave it at home when he's at work or in a box in his locker.

I'm so sorry though!! You never know though, maybe it will still turn up!

I know, I know... thanks Ang. I feel better now. He thinks it was in the bathroom, his partner is looking for it. I think it was the shock of hearing it. He feels REALLY bad and I think as punishment, I am going to let him sweat it out for a few more hours than call him and say its ok.

I know... when he called me to say he lost something right away I screamed 'NOT MURPHY!' (my dog) So it isnt the worst thing in the world.

I hope the below makes you feel better, I read it yesterday and was incredulous.

From the Associated Press:

Man finds lost wedding ring in Long Island Sound

July 23, 2005

BRANFORD, Conn. --A clamming trip in Long Island Sound produced the ultimate catch for a Branford man: the wedding ring he lost two years ago.

Stewart Petrie, 82, said he was clamming off Indian Neck in July of 2003 when the ring slipped off his finger. Tuesday, while clamming in the same spot, he found an encrusted, copper-toned ring mixed in with his clams.

'Wouldn't it be funny if it was your ring?' his wife, Mary, asked.

As she scrubbed it with jewelry cleaner, the inscription put there almost 38 years ago began to come clear: MPS to SJP 9-10-67.' Her husband's eyes began to tear, she said.

'It was an absolutely stupendous feeling,' Stewart Petrie said.

The couple married after Stewart Petrie, a former doctor, and his wife, a former nurse, met at Griffin Hospital in Derby, where they both worked. Mary Petrie bought him a new ring for Christmas, but it didn't replace the original. The Petries eventually plan to have jeweler restore the ring. But in the meantime, it isn't leaving his finger.

'I treasure that ring,' he said.

D It will all be okay.....this has happened to others before. So dont feel like a new ring wont be the same.....maybe when you get a new one have the priest bless it if you really want to??? I think he should maybe wear it on a chain when hes working???

You are too cute with the making him sweating it out thing. Good idea!!!!

Re: Crying hysterically...

i am sorry this happened to you --i can relate-DH was out at a lunch meeting last week in the city --he called me on his way back to the office --telling me he had lost it --he left it in the bathroom after he washed his hands --he called the restaurant --and they found it!

i hardly ever take mine off --DH says his 'bothers' him --he is not used to wearing a ring --he takes it off everytime he washes his hands --the first time le left it in the bathroom was at our cocktail hour --only hours after we got married!

i hope your husband gets it back...

Diane!!!!! this is so awful!!! I'm going to show this post to DH so he stops taking it off when he takes showers and such, and I'm just as bad, I guess I won't be taking my rings off anymore

So now I'm thinking, if he can't find it, for the future, why don't you get one 'real' ring to be blessed and be your special ring, and then another one he can where to work, like a titanium one or something?

Good luck finding it!!

Re: Crying hysterically...

sorry to hear this!
but it happens... my DH lost his 3 days into the honeymoon.... he had wanted to take one of the resorts small sailboats out, but i was too into my book so i just told him to go by himself.... he flipped the sailboat and in the process of getting it back upright, his ring slipped off in water.... when he came back and told me, i was mad.... but then i thought it could be worse.... he could have been really hurt... at least rings are replaceable....when we got back, he went right to the store and bought a new one... this time HE paid for it!
i know its upsetting... but it'll be ok!
