My center stone was a family heirloom. I designed my setting myself with a designer. Later on I brought Josh (FH) to the designer and he took the rest from there.
We are both very happy with how everything turned out.

It started out as a joke..he traveled to Israel for work all the time, so once I said...hey, if you are shopping for my engagement diamond there...i think i'd like a round cut or square emerald. (his friend there is a dealer & he had already gotten me stud earrings). To which he replied, well which of the two would you want? Which i decided on the Square Emerald, only to find out so many issues with it being confused with Asscher cut..sooo i proceeded to make him this handy shopping card to help him..haha (yes, i am a geek). I went looking at settings with a friend, and he worked with her to get my ring made & suprise me. I love the stone he picked & the fact he got it all done behind my back.

And mine is an Asscher! It's the only cut I wanted! I also like Square Emerald and Cushion cuts, but it was the Asscher for me all the way! How funny how people's tastes are different! I love the handy guide you made! I experienced the opposite problem with people confusing it for a Square Emerald. Only you and I and our FH's really understand the differences! FH actually picked out my stone and got one that IMO is perfectly cut and has great clarity!! It also has a very large table for an Asscher which as I read in your guide tend to be smaller than Emerald Cuts. ANYHOO......

FH and I had talked about the ring, I told him things I definitely did not like and other things that I did like, but I gave him room to play. The only thing he couldn't play around with was the cut.

and I LOVE MY RING!! I still stare at it all the time, at traffic lights, at my desk at work, while I'm on the toilet... ok maybe TMI

I didn't tell FH anything about the ring I wanted and yet he picked the ring and setting i always wanted....he couldn't have done any better!!!
