Hi ladies - I am thinking of doing a cupcake cake instead of a traditional wedding cake.
Those of you who are married or those of you who are doing this - has it been brought up that some people don't eat them at all? Due to maybe being too full and seeing a full cupcake it just too much to handle.
For those of you that considered it - but didn't go w/ it - would you mind sharing your reasons why?
Just trying to feel it out - a friend of mine is getting married up in Rochester and her BM mentioned this to her during a cake conversation.

I did the cupcake cake for my brothers wedding.
I actually found that MORE people ate them since its only a cupcake
i however did different flavors as oppsed to just plan vanilla so it was a lil more enticing.
i think they are awesome and look so cute JMHO

i love cupcakes and I would eat them. If people dont eat them its easier to transport.

for our e-party we had a sheet cake and I made over 240 mini cup cakes in a few diff flavors.. (strawberry, orange, blueberry and pistachio) and honestly, the cake was ATTACKED and the cup cakes were ignored. I think it depends on your guests. most of mine were older, and I dont think they liked the idea of eating with their hands.

Cupcakes don't bother me, but I don't know how a lot of older, more traditional guests would feel.

please... I don't care how full I am... you put a whole cupcake in front me I'm gonna eat it! LOL
I think the idea of the cupcake 'cake' is very cute and quite frankly very convenient. You don't have to wait for the cake to be cut up and served, they can just start handing them out. If you are doing a Viennese Hour you can just put the cupcakes on the table along with the other desserts. And you can do all different flavors so people have a better chance of getting something they like.
I say go for it! And save me a cupcake! LOL

i too love the cupcake cake idea
one thing to consider (and maybe someone out there already has a solution) is that there's no real 'cake cutting' ... i like the cake cutting part ... i like the pictures that you get from it ... and i wouldn't want to lose it.
we're not doing a cupcake cake, btw, because our RH has a cake included and it's a very basic design.

personally, I eat anything sweet, but like some ppl said above, maybe older guests might not love the idea
as far as not being able to cut something, I've seen it where ppl have one tier and cut that and then have the cupcakes as the base of their 'cake'

If thats what you want you should do it, people are going to end up getting a slice each no matter what size the cake is!

I will eat any sweets I think you should just do what you want, if you love the idea go for it and if people dont eat the whole cupcake they dont eat it - whos to say theyd finish their cake or maybe smaller cupcakes

I am a teacher so I am doing cupcakes, with a small cake on top to cut. I wanted to bring something to the wedding to reflect teaching ;) What better way to do it then with cupcakes :)
