My Best friend did this a several years ago, before anyone even thought about it, and used out favorite bakery, The Cupcake Cafe. Talk about a hit!!!
They have the most amazing cupcakes and special occassion cakes. For my daughter 5th Birthday (she'll be 10 in 3 weeks) when we told them her name, Autumn, to put on the cake, they 'went with it' and created a whole autumn theme cake with butter cream flowers and leaves in the most spectacular colors.

The Cupcake Cafe is the BEST. They are delicious and I know they do 'wedding cakes' like this.

I am planning on doing a cupcake cake or mini cakes. Since my hall gives out a plated cake dessert I am planning on sending the guest homes with a cupcake in a white box with a sticker (along with a favor).

my cousin did this. it was cute. but there were a few people who didn't understand that the cupcake in front of them was INSTEAD of the wedding cake and they kept griping about how they didn't get a piece of cake.
