Re: CUPCAKES instead of a cake??
I think the cupcake idea is cute but is very modern...
I am old fashion when it comes to this & still enjoy having a traditional wedding cake

I think it is definitely unique and cute. If you do a search, I know a while back there were a bunch of pics of cupcake 'cakes.'

Re: CUPCAKES instead of a cake??
I've never seen/heard of cupcakes in place of a wedding cake. I'm very traditional, I could just imagine the looks on my guest's faces if I had cupcakes. But if that's what you want then absolutely go for it!!!

You can have both - just less quantity.

I really like the cupcake idea too. They're just so yummy and easy to grab! We're getting a wedding cake because it comes with our package. Since I wanted cupcakes, my mom promised to have a cupcake cake for my shower. This way I get both!!!

I love the cupcake idea. I saw an article in one of the magazines that had Krispy Kreme donut cake. I loved it. Our cake is included though so I am scratching that idea but I think if you like it go for it!!

Re: CUPCAKES instead of a cake??
I LOVE cupcakes, I've been known to have cupcakes instead of meals so I'm seriously thinking of having cupcakes in lieu of a cake. My FMIL is very traditional when it comes to certain wedding details and I feel like this is one of those things. If you really love the idea of cupcakes - go for it!

Re: CUPCAKES instead of a cake??
My cousin's (he was the groom) wedding had a mix of cakes and cupcakes. Now, mind you, the wedding was in Eastern washington state down the street from a cow farm and the bride and groom made their grand entrance on a hay ride while drinking coors light, and the hor d'oevres (sp?) consisted of carrots from uncle somebody's farm.
However, their centerpieces were cakes. Some tables had cupcakes and some had cakes, all were different flavors. So, they had no formal cake cutting thing, but it was cute. Our table (full of the NYers, and the only people in suits) got stuck with a carrot cake, so my aunt (MOG) shared her chocolate with us. Actually, a lot of people dug in to the cupcakes before dinner.
It was cute, but, then again, the entire wedding was kind of surreal.

Re: CUPCAKES instead of a cake??
Personally for my wedding I choose a cake that shaped like a castle. It fits my theme. But there is nothing wrong with cup cakes. If its what you want, go for it. I've seen people use chocolates, donutes, cookies, etc... Go with what YOU WANT!
