I was wondering, how do most vendors/reception halls treat you when you say that you are 07? I remember over the summer i tried to make an appt w/ a florist (will not name who) and when i said my wedding was 'next summer' (meaning 06) he literally laughed at me and said to call back in a few months.
How are they to you??

Re: Curious
I haven't booked anything but the hall, but of the 14 halls I looked at, 4 or 5 already had a wedding the date that I wanted...and it's 2 years and a week away.

Re: Curious
All my vendors think it's great that I'm booking now. I went to the DJ's today and one of them was almost already booked for my day.

Re: Curious
Some find it pretty shocking when the most popular ones are used to it. I have all major vendors booked and by seeing how big we are in here, there is no doubt that many things are getting booked for 07.

They've all been great too. But I called one Florist last week and she laughed in my face! She said she 'needs to get through 2005 first sweety'
her exact words

Don't call back. A loval florist told me the same thing, 'You need to call a year before the wedding'. You know they will never see me for any event.

Re: Curious
I would say they are ok. I booked the church and hall in Feb. I booked the DJ this Sat and there were so many 07 weddings booked.
I guess it depends upon the vendor.

Re: Curious
If a vendor has a problem with you booking early and bringing them more money TWO years in advance then they do not need our buisness!!!
If I ever encounter this I will move right along and won't think twice 'cause this says alot about them!!!!!

Re: Curious
i booked my hall back in march of this year for feb. 2007...and they already had some dates filled in. as for vendors...sometimes when i was talking to a few here and there they would be like, 'wow, you are planning ahead of time!' but none were rude or anything. mostly they were telling me that we were smart for going to book so early because we would be getting, '2005' prices for a 2007 wedding.
so if vendors are kind of being rude about the date...i would stay away from them. sometimes i feel like that's a sign that they don't have faith in booking someone a year and a half to 2 yrs. away....a truly great photographer, florist, etc. should have bookings that far in advance and be ready to accept them happily!

Re: Curious
i have had a fine time with the halls b/c they are first to book so they want to book early i think some vendors dont want to book so early bc they are raising prices in 06 and probably 07 also so they dont want to book you now and givee you 05-06 prices for an 07 wedding...and what do i think of that? they can take their outrageous price increases and stick em somewhere... if any vendor made me feel stupid about booking early dont even book them or consider them there are sooo many vendors to choose from

Re: Curious
when we postponed and were switching we orignially wanted june 07 and they were already booked for majority of the month. plus if you book now you're entitled to the 05 prices for other vendors other than the hall.

Re: Curious
I ran into that problem with one florist I will remain nameless but other have been receptive, they realize that not everyoone has money to pay for things all at once. I want a nice wedding and to have it my way it will take me two years to pay for it.
Later for those vendors that will not sit with you now.
