Curious - where was your first date? (with poll)

I'm curious as to where FH/DH took you on your first date

I feel like most people usually go to a movie, which I find odd considering that you can't really talk or get to know a person in that kind of setting. But maybe it's a more comfortable environment for an already nervous 'couple'. lol.

What did you do?

For me it was out to dinner. He took me to a nice Italian Restaurant and then we walked around town a bit (the movie was our 2nd or 3rd date)

Well we met on a friday and the plan was to go out to dinner on saturday night. Well he called me at 6pm to make the plans but the problem was that on saturday there was a HUGE snow storm so we said we'd wait a little and see how bad it gets and it got BAD. So neither of us went out that night. But he called me the next day just to talk and mentioned us hanging out. Problem was that it snowed ALOT and I would've had to shovel out my car since i had a truck. DH's car is the absolute worst in that type of weather so he couldn't drive his car. At first i said no lol, but then my moms friend actually needed to borrow my car for an hour to do something since she also couldn't drive her car, the snow was pretty high so if you had a small car just wouldnt work. It worked out great bc her and my dad shoveled my car out lol. I had found out she was going to get the car while i was talking to dh so i told him that i might be able to hang out later. I called back and said i'll come pick him up. It was sunday and bc of the weather couldn't go far. So we went to this cafe/lounge. But we had alot of fun. We were there for HOURS, we had crepes and had drinks. It was nice bc we had a round booth. And its funny but ive been to this cafe lounge on other occasions and also always went during a snow storm and for some reason people go to this place during a storm and its alot of fun lol.

Then 2 days later he took me to a real nice restaurant.

ETA: On your poll I voted for 'other' since we didnt go to the movies and didnt exactly go out to a restaurant to eat. We went to a lounge for dessert and drinks lol so a bit different

For our 1st date, we went to the broadway show Lion King. I kinda pushed him into taking me...he had 2 tickets that he got as an x-mas present...was going to take he ex-girlfriend but we just started talking and I told him I wanted to go....so he took me instead!!! Before the play we went to Carmine's for dinner, the night couldn't of been better

And he even bought me flowers before we came into the city....definatley a night I will never forget. Almost 7 years ago but it feels like yesterday.

we went to beach.. walked around.. made a stop at waldbaums b/c he had a headache.. and went to Applebees.. it was perfect!!! it was so long ago.. and i still remember what i ordered..

we met while i was bartending..so we hung out in the bar while i was working a few times.. but for our first official date(when i finally agreed..lol) .. he took me to Umberto's in little italy. We had such a nice dinner even though there was a leak and it dripped on him the whole time..but he didn't want to move cause the seat he was in was closest to me! Then we walked around for a bit and he drove me home. It was actually very sweet. 2 Weeks later he got me a bracelet with the date engraved on it because he said he knew i was special. ( i think he was just kissing my @$$ to get some... ) i love to bust his chops about that.. he gets sooo mad..tee hee!!!

i miss those days sometimes!!!

I chose other because we met in Vegas and hung out two nights in a row, stayed up all night talking. Then he came to visit and we had a date weekend: Went to the strip, lake las vegas, red rock canyon, etc. IT WAS AWESOME! Best weekend of my life!

I agree that a movie isn't exactly the best first date thing to do, but that's what we did! It was a Sunday night... we went to see 50 First Dates... how appropriate!

We met at Applebees for lunch and then drove to Sunken Meadow beach/park and walked the boardwalk for awhile. It was super hot, so we went to the park area and sat on a bench talking and that's when he me for the first time Our first date lasted for 8 hours and only ended when it did b/c it was a Sunday and we both had to work the next morning. We just could not stop talking!

drinks at a hotel bar (35th floor overlooking central park...very romantic!) and then to dinner afterwards.

We made a bet the first night we met... who would win at mini golf? So, we went golfing, then up to huntington for a few beers to talk more and hang out. It was nice.

We went to Mardi Gras in Forest Hills, then we went to LIC to see the city skyline...then we went to a cafe/lounge in Astoria for drinks (kinda got tipsy)...then made out in the car lol

On 30th Ave, the one down the block from grand cafe has the yellow lighting...i forgot the name lol...omg gardi gras is sooo yummy...im so craving it now!
