Curves??

Curves??

I am just curious how you guys feel about the curves workouts?

I am looking for a quick thing to do right afterwork just to get me moving. I really need to get my a** in gear and I found out that there is one right around the block from my job in Manhattan!

Does this 30 -minute circuit training work? If you are a member, do you feel it has helped?

TIA for your input!

Re: Curves??

My cousin joined Curves and I was going to but they opened a new circuit training (just like Curves) closer to me so I went there.

From my experience...I love it!! I am just lazy to go!
As soon as the workout starts to be too much, it is time to change stations. I like it!

I loved it when I went. Did it for a year. I go to a full gym now and I get better results. But for me it was a great start and anything is better than nothing.

it was great for the first few months and then i just stayed the same..i think if you want to do the quick 30 minutes which was all i wound up liking about it you should find one that either changes the resistance once a week or one that makes you go around for different length of times..with curves its the same thing each time you go and i think your body gets used to it..good luck

Re: Curves??

I joined Curves the week after I got engaged. I love it. The people are great, the workout is easy, and I don't get bored. It is as challenging as you make it. Overall, I lost a lot of weight and really firmed up. I don't mean to sound like a commercial here, but the best part was how I felt after I had worked out - I actually felt energized, which was the exact opposite of what I was expecting!

I did it for a few months. After a while I hated it! It get boring. In fact a few people I know hated it because it was boring, it made them toned but did not lose a pound. (Muscle is more than fat). Now those people go to the gym and do cardo and toning and are much happier.

2 of my girlfriends had joined curves and hated it, they didnt lose anything. so now we all go to the jazzercise in hicksville, now that is 1 hour but it is great it covers all muscle groups and you are dancing.

I joined Ladies Workout Express 3 weeks ago (same thing as Curves--slightly cheaper). I lost 1% of total fat, 2 waist inches, 2 thigh inches on each leg, 1 arm inch on each arm, and 4 pounds (I also am cutting down on what I eat). I am definitely impressed with the results. As a workout it is kind of boring--same thing every day--but it is easy and the results came quickly. It is all about how hard you push yourself while there though--there are really old women who don't break a sweat--I am pouring sweat by the end of the 1/2 hour.

Re: Curves??

Thank you all for your advice and opinions.

I think what I might do is start out at curves, but not buy a year membership. Just go month by month to get me started. I think that the circuit training will be good, after that I can look into cardio and something more challenging.

I need to just start moving and eating better so maybe this will be what I need to start...until I get bored and than I can look for somehting else!

Thanks again!

Me too!! I go to LWE and I really make it count. I leave there sweating profusely, but I know I got in a good workout. But there are others that dont even exercise, they just go through the motions and wonder why its not working for them. They change the routine every week, so its always different, but you will only see results if you put in the effort.

Re: Curves??

Uloveit-
I belong to Curves and I like it mostly for the 30 minute factor. It is something I have been able to stick with and have lost over 30 pounds in the past year (along with doing Weight Watchers.)
Something worth checking into more closely is the yearly contract. At my location, the monthly fee is $10 less if you sign the yearly contract, but what they do is if you decide to quit after say 6 months, they just require you to pay the $10 per month you had saved to get out of the contract. So if you quit after 6 months, they will cancel the contract for $60 instead of making you pay for the rest of the year. Each franchise operates differently, so ask if they will do that for you.
